SLPS Named ‘Best Places to Work’ for Seventh Straight Year

With over 5,000 employees, St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) was recognized as one of St. Lucie County’s Best Places to Work. This is the seventh year in a row that the School District has received this honor in the “Extra Large Employer” (over 500 employees) category. Winning the distinction of Best Places to Work for the District was determined by several factors including; a low employee turnover rate and a 96% teacher retention rate, salary increases which resulted in over 900 employees receiving an average raise of 16.1%, a 99% fill rate on the first day of school for teaching … Read More

Referendum Renewal

SLPS Launches Summer Feeding Program

Starting June 13th, SLPS is hosting a Summer Feeding Program, offering FREE food for children and teens, ages 2-18. All schools in St. Lucie County are open feeding sites for the community and students can go to any school for meals. Students that are not enrolled for summer school or camp must sign-in at the front office prior to receiving a meal. The Career Connect conference was held at the MidFlorida Credit Union Event Center. This event focused on high school seniors for planning and exploring various career pathways. There were representatives from both industry and post-secondary institutions from skilled trades, professional and financial services, hospitality, art and technology, design, healthcare, and manufacturing industry sectors. SGAET Clouds in a Jar

Ms. Blackburn’s Science Resource classes have been studying the water cycle. At the end of the unit, they created clouds in a jar to see the cycle in action. Using hot water and ice cubes the creation of evaporation and precipitation was shown.  Then, hairspray was used to mimic dust particles for water droplets to attach to create the clouds. What an awesome STEM activity!
