SLPS Breaks Ground on New Fort Pierce Westwood Academy High School

On Friday, January 19, St. Lucie Public Schools Superintendent, School Board Members, and special guests broke ground on the site of the new Fort Pierce Westwood Academy High School.

 

Superintendent Dr. Jon R. Prince was joined by Board Chairman Debbie Hawley, Board Vice Chairman Jack Kelly, and Board Members Dr. Donna Mills, Jennifer Richardson, and Troy Ingersoll. Several notable guest speakers and community members were in attendance including Deputy Superintendent Dr. Helen Wild, Principal David Alfonso, former Superintendent Mr. E. Wayne Gent, former Board Member Dr. Samuel S. Gaines, County Commissioner Cathy Townsend, and Fort Pierce Mayor Linda Hudson as well as representatives from Core Remnant Construction including President Scott Olthoff and Chief Executive Officer Brandon Nobile.
The newly built, state-of-the-art Fort Pierce Westwood Academy is being built alongside the existing high school and will open to students in January 2026!
