SLPS Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

Every year, from October 23-31, more than 80 million people – both kids and adults – show their support for a healthy, drug-free life by wearing or displaying the red ribbon. Red Ribbon Week is a great reminder of why living a drug-free life is important. It’s a chance for parents, teachers, and communities to unite and reinforce the drug-free messages they share with kids all year. The eight-day celebration is an annual way to show that we won’t accept drugs in our schools, workplaces, or communities.

FREE Heart Screenings for Students

St. Lucie Public Schools is proud to partner with the Florida Department of Health and the Jessica Clinton MVP Foundation to promote a Free Heart Screening event on Saturday, November 16th, from 8am-4:30pm. Jessica Clinton, a young cheerleader in St. Lucie County, died tragically at the age of 17, partly because of an undiagnosed heart condition. The foundation created in her honor believes such tragedies can be prevented by promoting early heart screenings and providing public education and awareness of hidden heart conditions. Don’t wait. Schedule your child’s free heart screening today by calling 772-215-1912 or by visiting www.jessicaclinton.org.
