Social studies and ELA educators from St. Lucie participated in the Echoes and Reflections Holocaust training.  The training was provided by the Holocaust Task Force organized by Linda Medvin, Director of the FAU Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education.  The engaging presentation was lead by Stephanie McMahon Kaye from Yad Vashem. “I found this training to be an eye opening and engaging experience. Ecstatic and astonished were the common reactions from St. Lucie Public Schools’ (SLPS) Outstanding Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year nominees as Superintendent E. Wayne Gent and an entourage of well-wishers surprised the school leaders with the news this week. St. Lucie Public Schools Superintendent E. Wayne Gent recently accepted a donation of 200 sackpacks containing essential school supplies from the Office Depot Business Solutions Division. The sackpacks will be distributed to deserving students within the school district. The donations were made as part of the Office Depot and Office Depot Foundation’s award-winning National Backpack Program, through which the company gives children important tools they need to succeed in school – and in life – every school year. At Tuesday evening’s Board Meeting, the Bluebird Education Foundation presented students with instruments to help them exercise their musical talents. The Foundation’s Program entitled “Donation of Musical Instruments Through Recycling In The Key of E” makes this gifting of instruments possible.

A team of engineers from Fort Pierce Utilities Authority met with students and instructors in engineering classrooms at Fort Pierce Central High School and Lincoln Park Academy. Transportation Department supports Breast Cancer Awareness

Members of the Transportation Team showed their united support for Breast Cancer Awareness.

The fourth annual Giving Concert is planned for October 28th at Fort Pierce Central High School in the auditorium located at 4101 S. 25th Street in Fort Pierce. The doors will open to the general public at 6:30 p.m. and the concert boasting area choral groups will begin at 7:00 p.m. The event, sponsored by St. Lucie Public Schools and organized by choral director, Dr. Rolanda Jones, will benefit Grace Packs which is a weekly weekend backpack program that provides necessary food items to students in need.
