Southern Oaks Middle Placed 3rd in Regional Zero Robotics Competition

For the second year in a row, Southern Oaks Middle School hosted the Zero Robotics Middle School Summer Program, a five-week STEM program designed to engage students in learning and working in a 3D environment, applying forces and Newton’s laws, using conditionals for programming robotics SHERES which are Synchronized Position, Hold, Engage, Reorient, Experimental Satellites. This year’s team placed third in the Regional Competition. Commissioners 29th Annual Academic Challenge Team Recognition

At the May 13th School Board Meeting, St. Lucie County high school students received plaques for placing 2nd in the State for the 29th Annual Commissioner’s Academic Challenge. The Commissioner’s Academic Challenge is a highly academic statewide high school tournament inaugurated in 1986 and designed to provide a prestigious academic arena in which Florida’s academically talented high school students are recognized. 59th Annual State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida Winners

Recently hundreds of students participated in our Regional STEM Fair held in St. Lucie County. STEM education includes every field under the umbrella of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – everything from chemistry to physics, software design to trigonometry. From this academic showcase, individuals participated in the 59th Annual State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida held in Lakeland in April. Palm Pointe Chosen as a PBIS Model School

Assistant Principal, Deborah Iseman accepted the 2012-2013 PBIS Model School Bronze Award at the School Board Meeting on May 27, 2014. A  PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Model School is characterized by their consistent methods of utilizing data to better serve students and staff, utilizing creative and engaging reward systems, teaching PBIS to new students, extending PBIS throughout the campus and partnering with the community and parents, and including PBIS into daily activities across all available teaching opportunities.
