TCHS Business Students Compete at FBLA State Competition

International Business Academy students from Treasure Coast High School (TCHS) attended the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Competition, with over 4500 students in Orlando, Florida, themed “Leave Your Mark”. Students had an opportunity to compete and learn during this fun-filled, fast-paced week during spring break. TCHS Air Force JROTC Bataan Memorial March

Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC completed a 15-mile memorial walk/march on Saturday and Sunday, March 2nd and 3rd. The memorial march, entitled a “Bataan Death March” was done to honor those who survived and those who gave their lives in WWII during the fight for control of the Philippines. . After their surrender on the island of Luzon, the Americans were marched to POW camps hundreds of miles away. Many perished in the march. TCHS Interact Club Reads to Save Lives

The Interact Club from Treasure Coast High School reads the book Josh the Baby Otter to kindergarten students at Windmill Point Elementary School. This story is part of a water safety program that teaches children what to do if they fall into a pool.  

TCHS Criminal Justice Trained and Ready

Treasure Coast High School Criminal Justice students participated in Florida Public Service Association (FPSA) training on the teacher development day (10-26-18). The students practiced the following techniques: handcuffing, building searches, cover vs. concealment, interpersonal skills, weapon retention, and radio communications. The students performed exceptionally well.  The FPSA state competition takes place in March 2019 in Orlando Florida.  

TCHS – Outstanding Teacher of the year

Each year, the Florida Council for the Social Studies honors educators across the state at their annual conference.  11th grade US History teacher at Treasure Coast High School, Joe Curatolo, was recognized at the 61st annual conference as the Outstanding High School Social Studies Teacher of the Year for St. Lucie County.  Administrators across the district nominated teachers from their schools to be considered for this honor.  Mr. Curatolo’s leadership and drive to bring quality lessons to his students made him a great choice for our high school winner.  

TCHS HOSA LEADS THE WAY

On Sept. 27th thirty-one TCHS HOSA Club members traveled from TCHS to Jupiter to participate in HOSA’s Regional Fall Leadership Conference.  During the conference, HOSA students had the opportunity to observe the parliamentary process by listening to campaign speeches and voting for different candidates running for their prospective offices at the regional level.  Members also voted on this year’s HOSA t-shirt design as well as learning about the HOSA national service project: National Pediatric Cancer Project.  Our Club will participate with this effort by raising awareness and funds to support this foundation in research and development for a cure for … Read More

TCHS JROTC participates in Homeless Veterans Stand-Down

On May 17th, 2018 Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC participated in the first annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down in Fort Pierce, alongside many other organizations. They supplied items such as sleeping bags, care bags, food, boots, and many other helpful items to veterans in need. This is the first of many veterans outreach events for upcoming years, making it one of their unit goals to continue to help struggling veterans. Geometry is Life!

Ms. Cirocco’s Geometry Class is creating roller coasters! The students are finally in the building stages of the framework and some are even starting to put the tracks on! . The purpose of the project is to bring science and math from the classroom into the real world. Class discussions have been about how the engineers and builders have to create a design and then build.  

Treasure Coast Partners with Wing Stop

Treasure Coast High School boasts of many business partners throughout the community.  One such business partner is Wing Stop. During their grand opening, TCHS was there in full force to support and celebrate with them. TCHS Art Crawl Success

On April 10 – 14, the Fine Art and Performing Art students of Treasure Coast High School hosted their Annual IMAGINE art show. This year, the show was hosted at TCHS. Visual Arts (Drawing, Painting, Graphic Design and Photography) and Performing Arts (Dance, Acting and Singing) were all a part of this show.  During the day, many teachers brought their classes to the visual arts to experience photography, painting, drawing and graphic design. TCHS Takes Over Courthouse

On 04/04/18, TCHS’s Criminal Justice Department took a group of six students to the Federal Courthouse located in Fort Pierce. Judge Maynard and Judge Rosenberg put together a case about online threats made by an individual. Students were divided into three groups: prosecution, defense, and jury. All three groups worked with true professionals in the field such as lawyers, public defenders, and court staff members. Pat Kelly, who this season guided the Treasure Coast High School boys basketball team to the best record in the program’s 12-year history, has been named the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches Class 9A Coach of the Year. Under Kelly, the Titans started 16-0, finished 26-2, won their second consecutive District 8-9A title and advanced to the Region 2-9A semifinals before losing to 2017 state champion Kissimmee-Osceola. “It’s nice to be recognized by my peers,” Kelly said. “It’s a reflection of the fact that we had a group of kids who came together and played well and were persistent in trying to accomplish their … Read More

TCHS Key Club and The Gardens

TCHS Key Club had their first event on Sept. 18.  This was an orientation of the St. Lucie Botanical Gardens.  Students learned about the Gardens, how they are kept, and how to volunteer. The Botanical Gardens hosts a variety of events, but have always welcomed TCHS!

TCHS Assists With Crime Prevention

Two TCHS Criminal Justice Interns (Matt Feirra and Noah Durran) did an amazing job helping out at a PSLPD Crime Prevention/Child Safety event at Old Navy in Tradition last weekend. The store manager was very complimentary of the help they provided. Our very own SRD Brown stated that PSLPD Sergeant Dobler and Officer Lushbaugh were very impressed.

Imagine what a school can do when collaboration becomes part of how things get done.  On March 31, 2016, the Treasure Coast High School Visual and Performing Arts Department collaborated with Port St Lucie Botanical Gardens to host their annual art show.  The TCHS Culinary Arts Academy provided tasty delicacies while patrons enjoyed Fine Art, Graphic Art, Photography, Theatrical Performances, and a Dance Performances.  To say the least, it was sensory overload!

Student Makes Reading Fun

Treasure Coast High School Junior Aaliyah Brown is competing in the community service division of the Florida Public Service Association.  Autism has peaked her interest, and she has begun to work alongside autistic children of all age groups. She is working on the correlation between autism and reading.  Reading has been shown to improve brain connectivity within students of autism, and she has been making strides in incorporating this into their curriculum.
