Northport Media Center Earns “A” Grade from Principal!

Northport Principal Glenn Rustay gave our Northport Media Center Christmas decorations an “A” Grade after the Student of the Month celebration. Northport Celebrates November Student of the Month

We are so thrilled to announce our Student of the Month for November. Students are selected for being a good friend, improving their attitude, standing up for someone else, being a good citizen and many other reasons. Students are selected by their teachers and sometimes, by a class consensus. We are so proud of these kids! Many thanks to all our parents who attended the Student of the Month. Northport Commemorates Veterans Day, As Always!

Northport hosted a contingency of veterans from American Legion, Post 318 and Vietnam Veterans, Chapter 566 for a panel discussion for a commemoration of Veterans Day. The program began with second grade students from Jennifer Lusardi’s class leading the Pledge of Allegiance and giving a special salute to our veterans. Miss Lusardi’s father, Joe Lusardi. was one of the honored guests for the morning panel. Drama students from Allison Barajas’ class sang moving renditions of The National Anthem and God Bless America. Handwritten poetry was read by students from Mrs. Flores’ class. Northport Celebration For School Improvement Goal!

This year, as part of our Northport School Improvement Plan, one of our important goals is to raise attendance rates. We are determined to get our students into school so that our achievement levels will rise. We celebrated with a popcorn and movie party today with parties for grades 3 through 8 for all students who earned Perfect Attendance for the first quarter. Northport and FPC Collaborate in the Kitchen!

Northport’s 8th grade culinary students visited the advanced culinary classes at Fort Pierce Central High School. Central’s Chef Jesse Strell, in coordination with Ms. Rachel Savela, brought their students together to mentor and learn together. Northport students learned how to make a roux and many knife skills including the Rondelle cut.

Northport Teachers and Students Celebrate Idiom Day!

Every day is a wonderful day @ Northport. Third graders dressed up as idioms…like, “it’s raining cats and dogs,” “butterflies in my stomach,” and “two heads are better than one.” The students and teachers were filled with ? JOY ❤ The teachers were all SMARTIE PANTS!!!!!!

Northport Celebrates Stingrays and Sharks Honor Roll 2018!

Northport is pleased to present our very first Honor Roll recipients for the 2018-2019 school year. Parents, grandparents and families are celebrating Principal’s Honor Roll, A and B Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance. We are pleased as punch to reward these accomplishments. For the last eight years, Northport has recognized the month of October as Bullying Awareness Month. Students are educated using a multi-pronged approach with a common message. We don’t tolerate bullying at Northport; we offer tools to cope using an individualized plan, and we promote a single school culture with kindness, civic duty, patriotism, service, care and concern as our bell weather teaching style. Northport Celebrates with a Pizzaria!

What a great day in the Northport cafeteria and on our school patio. Hundreds of parents came to enjoy school lunch with their children. Beverly Yates and her MARVELOUS kitchen staff brought different styles of homemade pizza to the school. It was a special day and the community really enjoyed the different toppings and spending time with their children! Let’s do it again, Mrs. Yates and staff !!!!!!!

Northport Offers Stellar STEM Program

We’re using our brains at Northport! Seventh grade Northstars students in Mr. Fess’ STEM class dissected sheep brains as part of their “Medical Detectives” curriculum. In this unit, students learned the parts of the brain as well as their functions. Today, while dissecting the sheep brain, students identified the different parts of the brain and marked them with labels.

Northport K-8 School and our community partners, GiveBack2Kids, Inc., are pleased to present our GiveBack2Kids Student of the Month for October. Students are selected for leadership, perseverance and citizenship. Our community is so pleased to present these highly coveted awards to Daniel Robinson and Lucky Pierre Louis. Northport Offers Flight and Space Course!

Students in Mr. Fess’ 8th grade Northstars STEM class are creating kites as part of their Flight & Space course. In addition to studying the history and predicted future of flight travel, students are learning the forces acting on flying objects and how aerodynamics can help improve the efficiency of flying objects.

Northport First Graders Apply Science to Life!

First graders at Northport are learning all about matter. Thank you to Mrs. Esther Ruppel, one of our Big Brothers Big Sisters tutors, for providing the root beer floats for students to observe and enjoy. Science is so much fun!

Northport Encourages Kindness Through Community!

At Northport, kindness is contagious! We celebrated “Be A Buddy Week” in a few different ways. On Monday, many in our community wore blue shirts to honor “World Day of Bullying.” Recently, we celebrated “World Smile Day!” Smiling is a beautiful and delightful way to connect with others and to shine a positive light! Northport Celebrates “Dads Bring Your Children to School!”

Northport dads Rock! This year we had an unprecedented number of dads join for a light breakfast and a special time to fellowship with other children and their dads. It was a wonderful event that was a super success. Dads pledged to support their children and their children’s teachers. They also promised to stay informed about their children’s behavioral and academic progress and encourage their children every day. WE LOVE OUR DADS @NP.

Northport Media Center Teaches the Value of a Dollar!

@NP, students earn SAIL Notes for PBIS or Positive Behavior Intervention Support. So many community partners, such as First United Methodist Church, volunteers, Cindy Cairo, Women of the Moose and so many individual donors give school supplies and books to the children of our school. We have shirts donated by Joe the Biker with an anti-bullying logo and so many more items that need to get into the hands of our kids.
