IRSC Tuition Assistance

Indian River State College (IRSC) has a long-standing collaboration with St. Lucie County School District through which school district employees are given tuition assistance. The tuition voucher allows employees to only pay for the first credit of each three-credit course.  IRSC provides a tuition scholarship for the remaining two credits.  I am pleased to announce that IRSC has established a defined scholarship allocation for the school district for Fall 2019, Spring 2020, and Summer 2020 which will include Associate and Bachelor level courses.   The District has been authorized to begin issuing vouchers per the normal process, effective now.  The school district is … Read More

United Way Back to School Event for Teachers

United Way of St. Lucie County will be hosting a Back to School event for all St. Lucie County teachers August 5th – 8th and Saturday, August 10th. Last year, United Way transformed their School Supplies for Students program into Tools for Schools St. Lucie, a free teacher resource center where teachers can directly shop for needed supplies for their classrooms. LUCIE County, FL – School grades were released today from the Florida Department of Education, and St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) continues to make improvements.  As the second highest rated District on the Treasure Coast, SLPS is a high-ranking “B” District with no failing schools. Over the last four years, the School District has improved its total points from 573 to 669, representing a 96-point increase and landing SLPS within one percent of an “A” rating. Samuel S. It’s time to finish your degree at Indian River State College (IRSC)! Complete Florida, founded by the Florida Legislature in 2013, is offering scholarships for Florida residents who never completed a Bachelor’s degree and are returning to earn select Associate and Baccalaureate degrees in business, healthcare, information technology, education, criminal justice and public administration—all of which are offered online at IRSC. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Award amounts vary by the number of college credits earned. Lego Education Partnership

St. Lucie Public Schools and Lego Education have formed a valuable partnership that supports students’ exploration in STEM education. This partnership was recently recognized at the Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards Ceremony.   This year marks the 31st anniversary of the Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards, and all the 2019 Honorees were noted for going above and beyond to uphold the legacy of past recipients.  Student outcomes and futures will improve throughout the state as a result of professional and personal endeavors of school and business partnerships.     

Leadership Academy

Congratulations to Mrs. Felicia Nixon and Mr. Adrian Ocampo for representing St. Lucie County as 2019- 2020 Dr. Brian Dassler Leadership Academy participants. Dr. Brian Dassler Leadership Academy, is a year-long, job-embedded professional learning opportunity designed to deepen the leaders’ skills for improving instruction. Over 160 principals and principal supervisors from 53 districts in Florida applied for this opportunity. The Academy represents the top educational leaders statewide, and it is an honor to have them represent the District.
