Heathcote Botanical Gardens is hosting a St. Lucie Public Schools Employee Night on Friday, December 29 and Saturday, December 30 at 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm.
Superintendent Dr. Jon Prince and board members were thrilled to participate in the Port St. Lucie Festival of Lights Parade as well as the Fort Pierce Sights and Sounds Christmas Parade this past weekend. He was joined by Board Chairman Debbie Hawley, Board Vice Chairman Jack Kelly, and Board Members Troy Ingersoll, Dr. Donna Mills, and Jennifer Richardson. A special thanks to the drivers of the school bus (Mitch Miller) and convertibles (De’Aundrea Myles, Beral Toney, and Trenecia Scott), as well as the communications department for the festive parade decorations.

With over 5,000 employees, St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) was recognized as one of St. Lucie County’s Best Places to Work. This is the seventh year in a row that the School District has received this honor in the “Extra Large Employer” (over 500 employees) category. SLWK8 truly embraced the spirit of Hispanic Heritage Month. We organized an amazing door decorating contest that breathed life into our halls. Ms. Richardson’s Kindergarten class transformed their door into a beautiful work of art representing Prosperity, Power, and Progress! Our dedicated staff came together for a delectable potluck, offering culinary delights from various Hispanic countries. We also elevated our morning announcements by spotlighting prominent Hispanic figures who’ve shaped our world. It was a month where our students and staff united in honoring the rich and vibrant culture of Hispanic Heritage.

Molly Grow, a 7th grader at the Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie (CAST), was honored by the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Treasure Coast Chapter as their “Youth of the Year.” Molly is the chapter’s only student member and has been involved in many community projects and has even led her own fundraising event.
