2024 Earth Day and Space Art Contests

2024 Earth Day Contest

On April 22, 2024, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will celebrate Earth Day. This yearly observance mobilizes people across the world to raise awareness of the need for continued protection of Earth’s natural resources. Join DEP this Earth Day in its mission to recognize state efforts to protect and sustain Florida’s environment, including its air, water, land and ecosystems.

Contest Rules and Guidelines:
• Students in 4th-12th grade are invited to participate at no cost.
• All entries must be original student works; one entry per student.
• Students will design a poster that creates environmental awareness using DEP’s Earth Day 2024 theme: “Clean is Green: Preserving Florida’s Future.”
• Required poster size is 11 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall.
• All entries must have a complete and legible entry form attached to the back of the poster which can be found on the DEP website.
• The student’s name may not appear on the front of the poster.
• Students may enter electronic art by emailing their local district DEP office.
• Posters can be created using poster paints, watercolor, colored pencil, pastels, oil, crayon, pencil, charcoal, markers and original digital art.
(Please note: Pastels, pencil and charcoal should be sprayed with a fixative to prevent smearing.)

Submissions are due April 22, 2024, by 5:00pm EDT. Winning students will be selected from each age group (4th-5th grades, 6th-8th grades, and 9th-12th grades) in each of DEP’s six district regions and will receive two-day passes for free entry to a Florida state park. Regional winners will be entered into a statewide contest for a full-size printed poster of their art. Contest winners will be contacted by April 30, 2024. A state winner from each age group will be announced May 7, 2024. Please view the DEP website for more details about the contest, including how to submit entries.
