FPC’s Beach Clean Up Blast

Not all teenagers would be willing to wake up early on a Saturday morning, let alone volunteer their time to clean up a beach rather than enjoy the sun and sand. The teens of Fort Pierce Central High School’s National Honor Society, Gardening Club, and Key Club were joined by St. Lucie West Centennial’s Youth Advisory Council members for the 5th Annual Kimberly Pearson Memorial Beach Clean-Up. Coach Clements is the Buc’s Coach of the Week!

All of Cobra Nation congratulates our very own Coach Nick Clements for winning the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation’s Coach of the Week Award! In recognition of his hard work and dedication, Coach Clements will receive a $2,000 grant from the Bucs Foundation and new gear from US Nike Football. Mr. Clements coaches our winning lady Cobras Flag Football team. Way to go Coach Clements!

Burkes’ Bravery

Cobra Nation and Big Apple Pizza’s Van Duzer Foundation rallies with one our own! On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Big Apple Pizza hosted a fundraiser for Fort Pierce Central High School Chemistry teacher, Adora Burkes. Mrs. Burkes is diagnosed with stage four cancer. Although it is not curable, the chronic condition is considered treatable but is very expensive. For the foreseeable future, she is bravely facing rigorous radiation, chemo, and physical therapy treatments. FPC Key Club Sweeps Black History Month Creative Arts & Essay Contest

In Celebration of Black History Month, the Judges of the United States District Court for the Southern District Court of Florida sponsored the creative arts and essay contest. Fort Pierce Central High School Key Club members attended the event. Eddison Petion won Honorable Mention for his artwork and essay while Chaynna Thompson won Honorable Mention for her poem. Congrats to our FPC Cobras for their hard work.

Cobra Carnival

A PBIS Event With over 30 student organizations, teams, clubs, and class groups participating, Cobra Nation came together for free activities and refreshments for purchase. From refreshing flavored lemonade from the Gardening Club to National Art Honor Society’s crave-worthy chicken wings, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy, cupcakes, pancakes, fruit cups, chips, and hot dogs, students purchased tickets to exchange for their favorite treat. Beyond food, students could purchase tickets for the dunk tank to dunk a dean or assistant principal as well as the obstacle course. FPC’s FAFSA Night Part 2!

FPC’s Ms. Alanis, Ms. Mazzo, and Senior Class Assistant Principal Mrs. Armada hosted FAFSA night Part 2 on February 1st. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid Part 2 at FPC was a success! IRSC’s Financial Aid counselors joined Cobra counselors to workshop with two rooms of Cobra families navigating the online financial aid application process. Additional workshops around St. Lucie County are available to further support and assist parents and families.

Cobra Senior Named Scholar Athlete of the Month

Senior Class President Nicolas Tovar recently added a new title to his list of accolades. Nico was honored as February’s Scholar Athlete of the Month from WPBF Channel 25 News & the Law Firm of Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey, & Fronrath. FPC Blood Donations Saving Lives in SLC

The Big Red Buses Visited Cobra Nation The Fort Pierce Medical Academy, OneBlood, and Mrs. Barbara Charles would like to thank the heroes who boarded the Big Red Buses to save lives on Thursday, February 1! Over 200 units of whole blood and many apheresis procedures (removing plasma and/or Red Blood Cells) were collected. Fort Pierce Central’s Beta Club SHINED once again at the State Beta Club competition in Orlando. “A Voyage of Adventure” was the theme of the national competition where students competed against all of the Beta Clubs from schools around the country. FPC Faculty Fun

Holiday celebrations come in many forms and are shared through many treasured traditions. The Fort Pierce Central High School Family has made celebrating together a time-honored touchpoint in our school year. The capstone event is the Poinsettia Luncheon catered by the Cobra Culinary department. Mrs. Donnelly dips her fruit skewer into the lusciously flowing chocolate fountain. FPC is Feeling Seasonal all Winter Long! Central’s Jazz Band set off a week of spirit week seasonal delights with tunes that drew warm smiles across friendly faces. As a part of our school’s PBIS or Positive Behavior Intervention School initiatives, teachers gave out tickets to students exhibiting positive choices and behaviors on campus. In recognition, these students enjoyed yummy Cobra Cafe hot chocolate from Santa and his elves in the Culinary Arts Program.  

Central’s Key Club Makes the Season Bright

Tis the busy season for good works by the Fort Pierce Central Key Club! Sponsor Mrs. Denise Peschio and 100 members participated in the Fort Pierce Sights and Sounds Parade in early December. Then, volunteers helped at the annual Rivers Ridge Elementary School’s Holiday shop. Next, Key Club added some holiday decor at Chester A. Moore Elementary School. Finally, Key Club members helped bag gifts for the local, annual Toys for Tots.

FPC Danced into Winter’s Wonderland

Ms. Leonie Poku and FPC’s talented all-star cast of dancers delighted family and friends in Cobra Nation with spectacular seasonal offerings. From dramatic themes of elegance juxtaposed with the essence of jovial interpretations of iconic holiday numbers, the performances demonstrated the reach and range of FPC dancers.  

Central’s Winter Band Concert

Memories: A Winter Holiday Concert Ushering in the cheeriest season of the year is greeted by FPC’s Performing Arts concerts and performance celebrations. Band Director Mr. Joshua Daniels proudly presented Fort Pierce Central’s annual Winter Band Concert entitled “Memories: A Winter Holiday Concert.” This year’s concert featured Jazz Band performances of Kosma’s “Autumn Leaves,” Yasinitsky’s “Tomorrow’s Memories,” and Marks’ “Rudolph’s Mambo.” Next, themes from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker with special performances by Esteban Acosta, Junior Dubon, Jasmine Gabriel, Wendell Remy, and Makayla Vasser.  The Concert Band followed with Sheldon’s “Snow Globe,” Standridge’s “Wintertide,” with Percussion Ensemble’s performance of Herndon’s “Toboggan,” along with Winter … Read More

Applying for college can be a tricky and time-consuming process. Navigating unfamiliar websites alone can be intimidating. Mix in college entrance pressures, financial documentation, and pulling together all the pieces to plan your next four years is a heavy lift. Considering all these reasons and more is why Cobra Nation divides FAFSA night into two parts! FAFSA or Federal Assistance through the Federal Student Aid Program is a complex network of supplying paperwork and time-sensitive applications. Fort Pierce Central works with students and their families to inform, navigate, register, and complete the FAFSA application process.
