The Lincoln Park Academy Chorus participated in the Disney 2022 Candlelight Processional on Friday, December 9th. The Candlelight Processional, which occurs daily from November 25th through December 30th in the American Gardens Theatre at Epcot, brings you along on the incredible Nativity story. Each year a celebrity narrator takes Disney guests through the journey complete with a mass choir and a 50-piece orchestra. High school choirs must audition to be selected to participate in this very prestigious event. This is the 16th consecutive year that the LPA Chorus has been selected.

Lincoln Park Academy Theatre’s Troupe 6958 participated in District 15 Individual Event Festival on Saturday, December 3rd and the students did absolutely phenomenally. Troupe 6958 came away with 15 Superior Rated Pieces, 8 Excellent Rated Pieces, and 2 Critics Choice. Their Large Group Musical Titled: Biggest Blame Fool was awarded Critics Choice for Large Group and also chosen as the Overall Critics Choice Performance Piece for the entire Festival. This means that Troupe 6958 will be representing District 15 Thespians on the Mainstage at State Thespian Festival in March!    

The Lincoln Park Academy Middle School Student Council demonstrates leadership by modeling inclusion and empathy, as they advocate anti-bullying and supporting breast cancer awareness this semester.

The Lincoln Park Academy Physical Education Department sponsored a Breast Cancer Awareness walk on Friday, October 28, 2022.  Donned in pink, the students and staff walked 523,704 steps to honor survivors and those battling the horrible disease.  The Greyhounds wrote messages of hope and honor for all friends and family fighting this fight.  A special thank you to Mr. Jason Barela from the St. Lucie Health Department for supporting our walk and donating swag bags for students who walked the most steps and wore the most creative pink outfits.    

The Lincoln Park Academy Advanced Middle School and High School Orchestras presented a Fall Spooktacular in the Lincoln Park Academy Performing Arts Auditorium, October 25. The orchestras performed spooky pieces in addition to featuring several soloists. These soloists included Sofia Arias, vocal solo; Giselle Cisneros-Arana (Florida Orchestra Association All State Violin 2021-2022) on violin, Daniel Dawkins on piano, and Janaya Stephens on guitar. Lincoln Park Academy took Shakespeare to a whole other level in presenting Twelfth Night, 80s style. Twelfth Night is a Shakespearean classic that follows Viola on her journey as she disguises herself to fit in a new town. Her twin brother shows up and chaos ensues. Set in 80s New York, the music of this time truly helped moved the story into a new universe. Don’t miss our Spring Musical: The Little Mermaid, March 9-11.

On Thursday, September 22, 2022, Indian River State College hosted a community conversation in support of Lee E. Rhyant, the former Executive Vice President and General Manager for Lockheed-Martin Marietta. Mr. Rhyant, a native of Fort Pierce and graduate of Lincoln Park Academy, highlighted his new book, Soaring Eleven Guiding Principles on the Path from Segregation to Success, co-authored with Dr. Catherine Lewis. The Lincoln Park Academy Steel Drum Ensemble is thrilled to be back in full force after a brief hiatus during the COVID-19 Pandemic! Look for this amazing group of students performing in our community! MAN I LOVE THIS BAND!

This lab provided Lincoln Park students with a first-hand experience of how forensic scientists use DNA to connect suspects to crimes. The students were able to make a connection to the material on a deeper level. Next week the students will make their weekly venture to Harbor Branch for a mark & recapture field lab.  

Jacey Lane (10th grade) opened her 2022 cross country season by winning first place at the St. Lucie West Centennial Cross Country Invitational on August 24th.  She also won first place at the Wayne Cross Invitational on August 31st by finishing the 3.1 mile course in her career best time of 20:37.  Congratulations on a job well done!

After a year filled with community and school events, activities, and initiatives, Lincoln Park Academy Students4H2O closed the school year with GoalFest. GoalFest focuses on educating others about the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and how they relate to our lives and the world around us through 30-second to 3-minute video submissions. Lincoln Park Academy Students4H2O celebrate Earth Day 2022 at their new garden plot at the Fort Pierce Community Garden! Having this plot not only aligns with the United Nations missions of Global Goal 13: Climate Action and Global Goal 15: Life on Land, but allows Students4H2O members to have hands-on interactions with their environment. To further this endeavor, they plan on attending an agriculture course hosted by University of Florida Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences (UF/IFAS) to learn more about their crops and environment. We are extremely excited to announce that LPA’s own, Mia Morrison, was selected as the 2022 Florida State Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Saint Lucie County.  We are so proud of Mia’s hard work, her dedication to the program, and the way that she confidently represented Saint Lucie County and Lincoln Park Academy. Congratulations LPA Chorus!  This past Monday, the LPA Choral Department participated in the Florida Vocal Association State Choral Music Performance Assessments which was held at American Heritage School in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This was the third and final segment of the Florida Vocal Association’s Music Performance Assessments. Both the Women’s Chorale and Belle Voix received Straight Superior Ratings for their stunning performances. Lincoln Park Academy Students4H2O had a great time this Saturday at Stuart Memorial Park as they partook in Water Fest 2022! Lincoln Park Academy was proud to represent St. Lucie County at this environmental conservation event. Hundreds of attendees stopped by to check out their activity focused on upcycling egg cartons as planting pots. Mr. McGraw’s LPA visual arts students were invited to visit the Society of the Four Arts on Palm Beach for their 2022 season exhibit, In a New Light: American Impressionism 1870–1940. Students were able to view works from major American Impressionists from the 19th and early 20th century as well as learn about the history and mission of the society. “For students to have the opportunity to see the actual pieces in person significantly impacts their understanding of how paintings are made, and this knowledge positively impacts their own work/projects in the classroom”. Lincoln Park Academy had a wonderful time at NatureFest 2022! With over 30 booths from local environmental and outdoor groups, including nonprofits, parks, and eco-centers, plus local businesses, LPA Students4H2O was proud to be at the 26th environmental festival alongside the Lincoln Park Academy Key Club and the Lincoln Park Academy Environmental Protection Club. This educational environmental festival featured many exhibitors that showcased the Treasure Coast’s wildlife, natural resources, and Florida’s great outdoors! We look forward to participating at Water Fest — another empowering community event — on March 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stuart Memorial Park!

Congratulations to Madison Adkins on being selected to represent St. Lucie County as a 2022 Sunshine State Scholar. Madison was chosen based on her demonstrated interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related studies, grade point average, test scores, community service hours, and essay. Further, Lincoln Park Academy is proud to announce that they will be the first school from St. Lucie County to participate in Water Fest! Water Fest is the largest event on the east coast designed to educate the public on the value of water and the importance of protecting our water resources, water conservation, and the environment. LPA Theatre- Troupe 6958 stole the show at the Individual Event Festival this weekend! Bringing home 21 superior ratings and 8 critics’ choice trophies. In addition, 2 scholarships were awarded to Jonathan Edwards and Kailee Larmon, and the overall best technical theatre event of the weekend was awarded to Tyler Daniel. This means that we have 6 individual events, an overall critics choice piece, and our One Act Play that will be moving on to the State Festival in March! We can’t wait to rock State Festival!
