LPA Yearbook Staff Helps Coordinate Picture Day

Lincoln Park Academy’s dedicated yearbook staff work diligently to help organize school picture day. The entire staff started the year strong working all morning during their class time alongside the photographers to ensure a successful fall picture day. Several dual-enrollment students, staffers, and volunteers dedicated their entire day to the success. Thanks to Ms. King and her amazing yearbook staff, picture day went smoother than expected for everyone.        

LPA IB Students Building a Mesocosm

Lincoln Park Academy IB 3 students build a mesocosm which involves creating a controlled environment to study the interaction in ecosystems on a smaller scale. The mesocosm is an 8-week project that demonstrates the interaction of biotic and abiotic factors within a small ecosystem. Students must collect data on the organism’s growth, behavior, and interactions, as well as environmental parameters, then they analyze the collected data to draw conclusions about how the ecosystem functions in this controlled setting.      

LPA Senior Band Members Host “Instrument Intros”

Members from the Lincoln Park Academy Wind Ensemble collaborated with the 6th-grade band students and demonstrated the sounds of each band instrument. The students were able to get a preview of the wonderful band culture at LPA and select their instrument of choice. The 6th-graders were highly enthusiastic, polite, and eager to begin their journey into becoming musicians. Go Greyhounds!

LPA Student Success Assemblies

On Tuesday, August 22, Lincoln Park Academy students and Lincoln (our school mascot) came together to celebrate last year’s accomplishments and set the stage for success for this upcoming school year. Students participated in a review of school-wide expectations led by Principal Herrington, Dean Cobb, and Dean Harris. Lincoln Park Academy students strive to achieve high academic goals through being productive citizens both within and outside of our school community. Go Greyhounds!        

LPA STEM Students Investigate Pulley Force

Students in Mr. Logue’s STEM Science class investigated how pulleys affect the force needed to move objects.  Students were engaged in the practice of science by performing an investigation using pulleys.  First, students had to construct the block and tackle pulley system.  Then, students had to determine how the system affects the force needed to move the object.  Through this hands-on experience, students gained a better understanding of how pulleys work and how simple machines make work easier.

LPA 6th Grade Transition Camp 2023 ~ Simply the Best

On July 27th, Lincoln Park Academy hosted its incoming 6th-grade Transition Camp. Incoming students and parents were welcomed to campus by the proud Principal, Dr. Herrington. Information concerning scheduling, electives, dress code, and cell phone usage was reviewed during the opening session. Students and parents participated in a guided tour of the campus facilitated by the LPA Theater Entourage. Finally, members of the outstanding 6th-grade team provided tips for success as the students transition to middle school. These tips included communication, organization, and grading differences. LPA Holds Incoming 9th Grade IB Breakfast

On May 16th , Lincoln Park Academy hosted its first incoming 9th grade IB Student Breakfast! Current 8th graders at LPA who are entering into the IB program in the 2023-2024 school year were invited to attend a welcome breakfast. Students spent time with upperclassman IB students having breakfast, talking about the IB program, and socializing with one another. LPA looks to the incoming new IB cohort, graduating class of 2027!  

LPA Track and Field Athlete Excels at the State Championships

Congratulations to Alexandra Watson for placing 2nd in the Girls Long Jump at the 2023 FHSAA State Track & Field Championships in the 2A classification.  She jumped 5.55 meters (18ft. 2.5 inches) which is her all-time career best.  She entered the meet ranked 5th among the other competitors.

LPA National Junior Honor Society Students Show Teacher Appreciation

National Junior Honor Society students came together to deliver coffee and a sweet treat to teachers to show their appreciation for all that they do. Their hard work and dedication are a direct result of the leadership that they have fallen under from teachers. They showed compassion and kindness as they worked tirelessly to serve the staff. These students are truly making an impact in their school community and setting an example for others to follow. Way to go Greyhounds!!!

LPA’s Senior Mia Morrison Wins Again

We are so excited to share that LPA’s own, Mia Morrison, was selected as the 2023 Saint Lucie County Youth of the Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of Saint Lucie County and the 2023 Florida State Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs for the second year in a row!  Mia is the first youth to garner these distinguished wins in succession.  Congratulations on doing a stellar job!    

LPA Chorus Wraps up the Year with another “SUPERIOR” Rated Concert Season!

On April 25th, the Lincoln Park Academy Chorus participated in the Florida Vocal Association’s South State Choral Music Performance Assessments in North Palm Beach. The Women’s Chorale and the Women’s Advanced Choir, “Belle Voix” both received “SUPERIOR” ratings for their outstanding performances.  These performances concluded the FVA concert season and once again, the LPA Choral Department had a perfect “Superior” rated season with all of their performing ensembles. The Lincoln Park Academy Wind Symphony bids farewell to the graduating seniors as they participate in their April 2023 Finale Concert. LPA National Junior Honor Society Collects and Sorts Canned Goods for Grace Pack Distribution

National Junior Honor Society students came together to help those in need by collecting and sorting food for the Grace Pack Foundation. Lincoln Park Academy Does Broadway

Lincoln Park Academy Theatre just returned from their first ever trip to the big city. LPA theatre took 21 students to New York City to experience the bright lights, Broadway and the history of NYC. These students saw two-star studded Broadway shows, took masterclasses with Broadway professionals, toured the Museum of Broadway and visited numerous sights to see in the city. Many students experienced their first Broadway show! It was truly the trip of a lifetime.      

LPA IB Students Have Fun at IB Field Day

Lincoln Park Academy’s IB students had an afternoon of fun and competition at the first annual IB Field Day. Students competed in events against other grades. For a fundraiser, students were able to pie their teacher in the face, which allowed both students and teachers to let loose! And to cool down, students purchased ice cream from Cool Beanz ice cream truck, a Tradition-based coffee and ice cream shop. It was an excellent time to build community and have fun. 

Greyhounds Give Back to Their Community

The Lincoln Park Academy Middle School Student Council has been volunteering at Graceway Village this semester, organizing food, helping with clothing donations, and donating books to this community-based program. Their heart for serving others shines through all they do!

LPA Students4H2O have a Wonderful Time at Water Fest 2023!

Lincoln Park Academy Students4H2O had another great time at Stuart Memorial Park as they partook in Water Fest 2023! Lincoln Park Academy proudly represented St. Lucie County at this environmental conservation event. Hundreds of attendees stopped by to check out their activity focused on upcycling egg cartons as planting pots. A big thank you goes out to all the administrators, teachers, students, and parent volunteers that helped make Water Fest possible!LPA Students4H2O looks forward to the possibilities to come! Lincoln Park Academy Wind Symphony & Orchestra Performs in NOLA

The Lincoln Park Academy Wind Symphony and Orchestra performed at the Worldstride’s Onstage Festival in New Orleans, LA last month and earned the following awards: Jazz Ensemble: Gold rating, Adjudicator’s Choice Award and Invitation to Carnegie Hall  Steel Drum Ensemble: Gold rating, Adjudicator’s Choice Award and Invitation to Carnegie Hall Percussion Ensemble: Gold rating  Wind Ensemble: Silver rating and Outstanding Band Award for highest scoring concert band Orchestra: Silver rating  The Instrumental Sweepstakes recognition was awarded to the Wind Symphony and Orchestra for earning the highest overall instrumental score.
