LPA 7th-Graders Raising Awareness of Centennial Celebration

Mr. Weed’s 7th-grade Language Arts classes helped to decorate his classroom door in anticipation of Lincoln Park Academy’s 100-year anniversary.  In the spirit of the centennial, students traced and cut out their hands in LPA colors, orange and black.  Once completed, the hands became decorations for the door’s theme, “Hands Raised for 100 Years!”.  Each hand represents a current LPA student and his or her connections to the historic school.      

LPA Chorus Selected for 2023 Disney Candlelight Processional

Lincoln Park Academy Chorus has been chosen to participate in the 2023 Candlelight Processional and Massed Choir Program at the Walt Disney World® Resort!  This is the 17th consecutive year that they have been selected. Being accepted for this Walt Disney World holiday tradition is an honor. LPA Chorus is scheduled to perform on Friday, December 15, 2023 @ 5:15 pm. Congratulations Mr. Rahming and the LPA Chorus!

LPA Theatre Does ‘Pippin’

LPA Theatre had Magic To Do this past weekend as they presented Pippin! This cast took audiences on a journey of discovery, battles, beauty, and love as we watched Pippin take on the world. These students created a beautiful world onstage that drew audiences in again and again. With a student-led tech team and dazzling choreography, this show was a sight to see.    

LPA Celebrates Their Winners

Happiness was in the air on Friday, October 5, 2023, as the administrative team of Lincoln Park Academy surprised the winners for the 2023-2024 school year.  The winners were honored by Dr. Herrington sharing congratulatory remarks and were given flowers and a beautiful certificate.  Congratulations to the outstanding Lincoln Park Academy winners! LPA Hosts a Scrumptious IB Breakfast

On Monday, October 2, 9-12 IB students gathered for a continental breakfast. IB Student Committee Officers and teachers were introduced, Dr. Herrington spoke, upcoming programs and events were shared, and most importantly, students spent time meeting each other. The importance of the IB community was stressed; IB students need each other throughout their time in high school. Each graduating class can learn from those that preceded it. It was a great time of fellowship with one another.      

LPA Key Club at the All Villages

LPA Key Club helped unload 1,500 pumpkins at All Villages Presbyterian Church in Port Saint Lucie on October 7th, 2023. Their pumpkins needed to be unloaded and set up as well as the hay that needed to be spread out all around the patch. With all the hard work of the members, 45 members and other volunteers, the pumpkin patch was a success! With all the teamwork, they were able to get it all done in around 3 hours. These pumpkins are now ready to be sold to the public for the fall season thanks to the LPA Key Club!

Military Career Exploration at LPA

Lincoln Park school counselor, Aixa Jamison, spearheaded a military exploration day!  Students in the high school section of Lincoln Park Academy had the chance to explore the various career opportunities the military branches have to offer.  Recruiters were able to conduct classroom visits to educate our students on the multitude of professions one can pursue.  The interactive sessions left all seeking more information on the military branches and their high academic service academies.

LPA Students Conquer College Options

Counselors from Lincoln Park Academy accompanied students to the Havert Fenn Center to gain insightful information on various career pathways into promising careers through visiting many of the colleges represented nationwide.  We were also graced to have our very own Superintendent Dr. Jon R. University of Florida Visits Lincoln Park Academy

Lincoln Park Academy Students listened intently to a presentation by Mr. Carlens Clervoyant, University of Florida Admission Counselor. Students gained vital information on admission, scholarships, housing, on-campus clubs, and life in Gainesville Florida. All students who attended are eager even more than before, to go home and complete their common application by November 1. Go Future Gators!

LPA Girls Basketball Coach Inducted to the Southern California Basketball Hall of Fame

The administrative team surprised Coach Nicole Erickson while she was teaching her middle school physical education class.  Dr. Michelle Herrington presented Coach Erickson with a bouquet of flowers along with warm expressions to congratulate her on an amazing accomplishment. LPA A Team Competes at IRSC

The Lincoln Park Academic A Team did a terrific job at IRSC on September 28, 2023.   There were 8 teams from different high schools and one team from IRSC. The team beat the IRSC team and came in 3rd out of 8! We are extremely proud of this group of young people and how they demonstrated their exceptional abilities and teamwork!  Go Greyhounds!

Lincoln Park Academy’s National Junior Honor Society students are eager, wide-eyed students ready to embark on a journey of leadership, service, and academic excellence. Students gathered to learn, connect, and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead, as they take their first steps towards becoming the future leaders of their community and beyond.      

LPA’s College Board Awardees

College Board has granted national recognition to several of  Lincoln Park Academy’s High School students.  These students are being recognized because of their high grade point averages of 3.5 or higher and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT and or Advanced Placement Exams. Lincoln Park Academy Orchestra Students Audition for All-State

These Lincoln Park Academy Orchestra students recently auditioned for the Florida Orchestra Association All-State Orchestra, held at Oslo Middle School on September 19.  Middle school student Christine Gergely auditioned on viola, and high school students Giselle Arana-Cisneros and Alexander Lopez auditioned on violin.  This will be Giselle’s fourth audition for the All-State orchestra!  The students prepared two etudes/excerpts in addition to scales and arpeggios. Results will be released in early November. Miss Laura Hopkins is the director of orchestras at Lincoln Park Academy.        

LPA Art Students Connecting Art and Science

Students in Mr. McGarry’s Ceramics classes at Lincoln Park Academy are combining their Geometry skills with their creative abilities to construct ornamental ceramic boxes. They are seen here in the beginning stage of construction, measuring and attaching the separate clay panels. Later the projects will be decorated and kiln-fired to create the finished ceramics pieces. We are excited to see the outcome of the artists’ efforts.    

LPA Students Learn About Enzymes

Lincoln Park Academy students in Ms. Saxton-Hertz and Ms. Bernard – Mark’s IB MYP Biology classes completed the Pineapple Enzyme Lab using gelatin as the protein and pineapple as the enzyme. Students learned how to denature the bromelain from the pineapple by adjusting temperature and pH levels.  This lab directly ties in to  SC.912.L.18.4 and relates the structure and function of enzymes by allowing students to use hands-on activities to become proficient with the standard.        

LPA Key Club Meeting of the Year a Resounding Success

The Lincoln Park Academy Key Club held its first meeting as new and existing members were welcomed back for the 2023-2024 school year. After the introduction of sponsors and the Key Club mission statement, plans were discussed for the club and its future endeavors. The first beach clean-up is scheduled for November 4th.  Members can’t wait to share their hearts and skills with the rest of St. Lucie County!  

Lincoln Park Academy School Counselors Stretching Their “Cache of Knowledge”

Lincoln Park Academy school counselors had the pleasure of attending the State University System of Florida Admissions Tour (SUS) held at Florida Atlantic University on August 30, 2023. The tour is an opportunity for middle and high school counselors to meet with State University Admissions Directors from universities such as the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida Atlantic University, and many more; to learn admissions philosophies, policies, and procedures so counselors can better meet the needs of university-bound high school students.   Additionally, counselors mixed and mingled with their fellow colleagues from surrounding districts including our own St. … Read More
