Congratulations to the Lincoln Park Academy Math Team on a great finish Saturday, February 13th, at Suncoast Community High School’s February Regional Mu Alpha Theta Math Competition. Eighth graders Callie Zheng, Sreya Banik, and Yanan Lin took home the third place trophy in the Geometry Team division. Callie also finished in 8th place as an individual. In the Calculus division, seniors Geoffrey Zheng, Carlos Arce, Jason Dennis, and junior Bradley Gilrane finished in third place with Geoffrey placing 2nd overall as an individual. Senior Taneria Wilson scored her 1,000th basketball point as a Lincoln Park Academy Greyhound.  The LPA family of students, teachers, staff and coaches are very proud of her accomplishment.  Congratulations Taneria!!

On January 11th, Dyujae (Biko) Gayman scored his 1,000th basketball point as a Lincoln Park Academy Greyhound.  The LPA family of students, teachers, staff, and coaches are very proud of his accomplishment.  Congratulations Biko!!

Mrs. Jamie Spooner‘s Honors English classes participated in the Great Thanksgiving Listen between the Thanksgiving and Winter Break.  This project, developed by NPR and StoryCorps,  allowed the students to interview friends, family, and important role models to allow their memory and voice to be saved to the Library of Congress.  It helped the students to continue to grow as communicators during their study of American literature.

The National Honor Society and students of Lincoln Park Academy collected gently used shoes for Hope’s Closet during the month of December to help men, women, and children to better enjoy the holiday season.  The students will be continuing their service drive with Hope’s Closet in the month of January by collecting jackets and blankets.

On Friday evening, December 4th, the Fairlawn junior cheerleaders joined the Lincoln Park Academy cheerleaders to cheer our boys basketball team on to victory.  We would like to thank our junior cheerleaders for joining us.  It was truly a delightful and energetic evening of cheers.

The Lincoln Park Academy Jazz Ensemble collaborated with renowned Latin percussion artist and Grammy nominee Sammy Figueroa and his Sally’s Tomato ensemble at the Sunrise Theater Black Box.  The students enjoyed an engaging workshop with Mr. Figueroa on Afro-Cuban stylistic techniques followed by the performance at the Black Box.   Sponsored by Bluebird Educational Foundation, the event was an enormous success!    

In early October, Lincoln Park Academy middle school art students participated in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest which is sponsored by Lions Clubs around the world. This art contest encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. For more than 25 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest. The theme of the 2015-2016 Peace Poster Contest was “Share Peace.” Thirty-three students, ages 11, 12 or 13, were selected to showcase their work in Art Mundo, a local gallery/workshop located in beautiful downtown Fort Pierce, 111 Orange Avenue. For the 8th consecutive year, the LPA Chorale has been selected to participate in the 2015 Disney Candlelight Processional. The Candlelight Processional held in the Epcot Center at the American Gardens Theater is a breathtaking retelling of the Christmas story in words and music complete with a 50 piece orchestra, choir and celebrity guest narrators. The narrators read the Christmas story and interspersed are favorite carols of the season. The Lincoln Park Academy Chorale will perform on Friday, December 11th at 6:45 pm and 8:15 pm. The celebrity guest narrator for the evening will be Ana Gasteyer.

On Wednesday, November 18th at Lincoln Park Academy, we had the honor of congratulating six of our seniors.  These student athletes have committed to their college, university and/or academy to further their education with a scholarship. They are as follows:  Lindsey Wright – Swimming, Gardner-Webb University;  Derek Schwimer – Baseball, Palm Beach State College;  Ashley Langel – Softball, Shorter University;  Jeffrey Gerilca – Baseball, Air Force Academy Colorado Springs; Meghan Callahan – Softball, Palm Beach State College; and Taylor Boykin – Softball, University of South Carolina Beaufort.
