Wayne Gent and others participated in a groundbreaking event for the MRO (Maintenance, Rehab, and Overhaul) Hangar.  This facility will have the capability to house full-size jetliners for maintenance and overhaul — very positive for our county and for students working toward aligned industry certifications. November 12-18, 2018 is designated as National School Psychology Awareness Week. This week serves to highlight the important work school psychologists and other educators do to help students thrive in school. Our school psychologists are all actively involved in problem solving meetings at schools, conducting evaluations, assisting in implementing our mental health initiative, addressing suicide prevention and supporting our schools with their Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports initiatives. St. Lucie Public Schools partnered with Main Street Fort Pierce to connect downtown Fort Pierce businesses to the high and middle school culinary programs.  In mid-October, nine culinary teachers toured eight restaurants; Importico Bakery, Uncle Carlo’s Gelato, Taco Dive, 2nd Street Bistro, Subway, Sunrise City Café, The Bradford and the Cake Lady.  The whirlwind tour started at 3 PM with kitchen tours, sampling flagship dishes, historical tidbits, and moving on to the next stop.  The group was thrilled to see Fort Pierce Central and Fort Pierce Westwood culinary graduates in action —  one as hostess and one as restaurant owner!  … Read More

In October, Fort Pierce Westwood Agriscience hosted 22 Manatee Vet Prep 8th grade students and parents.  The group was treated to a tour and demonstration at the Agriscience facility then on to Veterinary Assisting where several Manatee alumni were seen leading hands-on activities.  The Manatee 8th graders were engaged and appreciated seeing the opportunities Westwood offers its students.
