RULES, GUIDELINES AND PRIZE AMOUNTS
STUDENTS PARTICIPATING MUST COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:
THEME: All artwork, 3D sculptures, photographs or video should focus on the corner-stones of representative government, Free Speech, Free Press and Free Society and how these rights ensure “the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.“
Artwork needs to be on colored construction paper or white/colored poster board, no larger than 22 x 28 inches. Only original artwork from individual students will be considered. Cutouts from news or media publications are not permitted and will disqualify the entry! Please clearly print your full name, school grade, name of teacher (for contact purposes) and name of school on the back of your artwork.
3D sculptures may be submitted in any medium, but should not be larger than 12 inches wide by 12 inches deep by 18 inches high, and should not weigh more than 20 pounds.
Photographs must be taken by the student. Photographs may not be larger than 11 x 14 inches. Photographs may be enhanced, edited or photoshopped. Please attach all photos to colored construction paper or white/colored poster board, no larger than 22 x 28 inches along with a type written summary in a large print font attached to the front of the poster board. Please also attach an unedited 4 inch by 6 inch reference copy of the original unedited photograph to the front or back. Also, the student is free to decorate the poster board, but it should not be the primary focus of the submission.
Videos submitted must be either a 30 second public service announcement, or an informational piece not exceeding 2 minutes in length with focus on the Law Day theme. Students will provide a copy of the video on either a CD/DVD or thumb drive.
All submissions are the property of the Friends of the Rupert J. Smith Law Library. Submissions will be judged on originality, creativity, technical use of the materials chosen and how well the theme is incorporated into the work. Please be sure to include the student’s name and contact information with their submission or it may be disqualified.
