Educators Attend Institute With Dr. Norman Webb

Fund Raiser for Kerri Walukiewicz — A Family Reunion!

On Wednesday, October 28, the Van Duzer Foundation hosted a fund raiser for Rivers Edge Principal, Kerri Walukiewicz, at the Big Apple Pizza near IRSC. Feeling like a family reunion, people from all over the county attended, ate dinner, donated blood, tested to be a donor and participated in the multiple raffles. Multiple generous businesses and a packed house brought in lots of love and over $14,000! Local Teachers Benefit from Walmart Teacher Rewards Program

LUCIE, FL – Walmart awarded 20 teachers from Allapattah Flats K-8 School with $50 reward cards to purchase classroom supplies that will help students as part of the company’s Teacher Rewards program. For the sixth year, Walmart will donate over $4.5 million to provide 90,000 teachers across the United States with reward cards to help offset the cost of classroom expenses at the beginning of the school year. Theatre Group Performs at Manatee Academy

Students and teachers have been reading the Narnia books for the last month and thought this interactive interpretation was “Awesome!”

“Halloweengo” a Hit at REE!

REE hosted their annual Bingo for Books with a Halloween twist thrown in. Coupling it with a Title 1 presentation, the students then paraded by grade level across the stage in their costumes. Bingo then ensued with students winning a book every time they achieved BINGO! Our ever fabulous PTO handily decorated the cafeteria and gave out creepy treats! Everyone went home with a book and a smile!

Fort Pierce Central High School’s Criminal Justice Academy hosted its annual Crime Prevention Day on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Office Depot Makes Donation

St. Lucie Public Schools Superintendent E. Wayne Gent recently accepted a donation of 200 sackpacks containing essential school supplies from the Office Depot Business Solutions Division. The sackpacks will be distributed to deserving students within the school district. The donations were made as part of the Office Depot and Office Depot Foundation’s award-winning National Backpack Program, through which the company gives children important tools they need to succeed in school – and in life – every school year. Manatee Academy Students Visit Anne Frank Exhibit

Manatee Academy 8th grade students enjoyed lunch at a park after viewing an emotional Anne Frank exhibit sponsored by Temple Beth Am in Jupiter this week. The exhibit is part of a national tour from the Anne Frank Center, New York. Our students participated in a scavenger hunt by answering questions after reading the giant informational murals, pictures, and quotes from Anne and her family. Docents showed a 22 minute film, “The  Short Life of Anne Frank.”  Students were visibly moved by this documentary and accompanying exhibit.

Manatee Vet Prep Students Partner with Westwood’s Veterinary Assisting Academy

Manatee Academy Vet Prep eighth graders and several of their parents visited Fort Pierce Westwood High School’s Veterinary Assisting Academy to tour the available programs offered through the Career and Technical Education Department. Middle school students studying animal science learned about the many benefits the attractor program has to offer. Seniors in the program guided them through several hands-on experiences that they could expect as students, such as proper dog restraints, dog grooming and the many college/career opportunities available through FFA. Northport Rallies For Fifth Annual “Unity Day!”

Every year for the last five years, Northport has united for a huge campaign to stamp out bullying. The students have listened to not only “Joe the Biker” speak, but dozens of other speakers whose message has been one of nonviolence, empowerment and anti-bullying. Students have made thousands of posters, worn orange for anti-bullying and red for drug awareness.
