St. Lucie West Centennial High School Culinary Arts Students Shine in Mock Interviews

Classrooms2Careers in Action: Culinary Arts Students Shine in Professional Mock Interviews

The Culinary Arts program hosted its annual Mock Interview event this week, providing students with a meaningful opportunity to practice essential career-readiness skills in a professional, real-world setting. Throughout the day, students participated in one-on-one interviews with industry professional Doug Poole, Chief of Staff at Kyle G’s Restaurant, gaining valuable experience in communication, presentation, and workplace expectations.

This structured event is part of the program’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for success both in and outside the kitchen. It also serves as a key component of the Classroom to Careers Initiative, which focuses on providing authentic learning experiences that bridge education and industry. Leading up to the interviews, students dedicated significant time to résumé development, elevator pitches, and professional etiquette. Their hard work was evident as they confidently stepped into their interviews.

This year’s interviewer, Mr. Poole, shared thoughtful feedback on the students’ professionalism, preparedness, and enthusiasm for the culinary field. He expressed how impressed he was with their ability to articulate their goals, reflect on their experiences, and communicate their aspirations within the industry.
