Throughout the history of the world, great teachers have inspired, persuaded, and motivated students. The goal of the St. Lucie Public School Teacher of the Year program is to recognize and celebrate the wealth of excellent teachers that exist across the District.
All of us recall a certain teacher, a very special someone who inspired us to learn. All of us have sat in the classrooms of many great teachers. Regardless of their fields of study, they are all visionaries who lead by example, share wisdom, advocate for students, inspire others to join the profession, and whose actions transform lives.
The St. Lucie Public School Teacher of the Year began 43 years ago and is meant to be one that celebrates and honors inspiring teachers and recognizes the importance of teaching.
Every day, we along with a hundred million parents entrust our children with teachers. They instruct, guide, coach, and inspire them to fulfill their greatest potential. This program presents some extraordinary men and women whose timeless wisdom echoes the integrity, strength, character, and passion of educators all across our District and our nation. This program is a tribute to and for teachers and celebrates the special, and often heroic, role they play in the lives of students. This program is in our small way an opportunity to say “thank you” to those who educate, encourage, empower, and inspire the students of our world. Our robust program is designed to bring national attention to the importance of excellence in teaching and celebrate the talents and commitment of these extraordinary teachers. Let’s meet them now.

SLPS HBCU/HSI College Fair
On January 25, 2024, SLPS held its annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) College Fair at the Fenn Center. This fair hosted representatives from the HBCU and HSI colleges who provided program, application, and scholarship information to prospective students which included SLPS current seniors and juniors. These college and university fairs are to help students find the right campus that meets their wants and needs. This also gives the students an insight into what each college requires before enrolling to their school. Students went to different tables to learn about the school, history, programs, and understanding in what the student might experience at that campus.
