T.R.E.A.S.U.R.E. Tournament Air Sea Land Challenge 2024

This past weekend on Saturday, April 13, 2024, Treasure Coast High School, Fort Pierce Westwood High School, and Southern Oaks Middle School participated in the T.R.E.A.S.U.R.E. Tournament Air Sea Land Challenge, hosted by Treasure Coast High School’s Robotics Team at their school. The event included an aerial scavenger hunt, an augmented reality maze for drones, as well as land and underwater events, which culminated in a Combined Event of all three types. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Systems Thinking Through STEAM at SLWK8

Sixth-grade students in Ms. Boham’s STEAM class were learning about Assembly lines and Systems thinking. Students used the Engineering Design Process to design an Assembly line that they then ran twice and timed to see if they could make improvements to the design and improve their time/production.

Synergizing Through STEAM

First-grade CAST students in Mrs. Lundy’s class drew and drafted their own plans to design a bridge with an underpass. They used a variety of materials to construct their bridges as a team. They expanded their creativity through art, engineering, and synergy!  

Synergizing at Westwood

Students in Mr. Harrigan’s class synergized during a team-building STEAM activity. Students were challenged to build a tower strong enough to hold a marshmallow but were only given spaghetti, tape, and string. Students enjoyed getting to know their classmates as they worked together as a team!

Sweet Math Fun with Jelly Beans at MSE

Mrs. Saulnier’s 1st grade students are having a blast honing their graphing skills with an engaging jelly bean activity! The young mathematicians sort colorful jelly beans by type, then graph their findings using a bar graph. This hands-on experience not only reinforces their understanding of sorting and data representation but also cultivates critical thinking as they compare the different quantities. As they eagerly analyze the results, the excitement in the classroom grows, showcasing how math can be both educational and entertaining. Sweet Explorations for Mosaic Digital Academy Owls

Students in grades 3–5 at Mosaic Digital Academy recently participated in a dynamic and hands-on Live Day, filled with engaging math and science activities designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding. In math, students explored multiplication and division concepts using Smarties candies. This sweet and strategic activity, aligned with Florida’s B.E.S.T. math standards, allowed learners to visualize and manipulate groups and arrays in a fun, tactile way. The colorful candies helped students make real-world connections to abstract mathematical operations. Science investigations were equally captivating. Fort Pierce Central SWAT promotes saying NO to drugs and alcohol On Oct. 26th students signed pledges on a community banner, made and wore red ribbons, and posed for positive pictures!    

Susan Seal Selected to Serve on State Team

The Florida Department of Education selected TCHS Principal Susan Seal to serve on the Level 2 School Principal Performance Assessment Task Development Team.  The purpose of this team is to develop performance tasks aligned to the competencies and skills finalized as part of the Level 2 School Principal Performance Assessment development process. The team left balloons, signs, and high expectations for another positive year at each home they visited.

Meet Maddy Polina Malizia in the November edition of Eye on St. Lucie. Polina, as she likes to be called, is a successful student at St. Lucie Virtual School who also bears the distinction of the Russian Federation National Woman’s Surf Champion. Superstars emerge in Lawnwood Elementary reading program

Lawnwood Elementary School teacher Denise Ferrara-Slater is breaking reading records with her after school tutoring program. Pictured is Ms. Ferrara-Slater with some of her prize readers, who are working on gaining 200, 15-minute independent reading steps in October. The students gain steps by reading both at home and in school. These reading superstars are in the 21st Century second grade tutoring program.
