TCHS AFJROTC Curriculum in Action at Stuart Air Show

Treasure Coast High School JROTC cadets visited the Stuart Air Show this past Friday to further their education in aeronautical science. At the Air show, cadets toured multiple aircraft such as the C-130 and the A-10, military aircraft that they still use today! The significance of this trip was to enable our cadets to have a fun experience as they learned about the principles of flight. All the cadets that attended had an eye-opening experience of being a real pilot and were encouraged to continue their future in aerospace and aeronautics.

TCHS AFJROTC Competes

Members of the Treasure Coast AFJROTC Color Guard, Drill, and Air Commando Teams recently competed at the Annual Sickles High School Drill Meet in Tampa. It was a very tough competition and the teams represented TCHS very well. The following awards were won: Air Commandos 3rd place Physical Fitness Team, Freshman Drill Team 3rd Place Regulation Drill, Regulation Drill Flight 3rd Place, Armed Squad Drill 2nd Place, Color Guard 2nd Place, and Freshman Drill Uniform Inspection 1st Place. TCHS AFJROTC’s own Cadet Kaylie Reichert was recognized as the top Female Physical Fitness competitor and was named “Iron Cadet.”

TCHS AFJROTC Cadets Volunteer at the Treasure Coast Food Bank

On October 6, Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC cadets volunteered at the Treasure Coast Food Bank. Cadets participated in a “drive up” distribution line to provide food to families and then worked in the Food Bank’s warehouse to sort and prepare food for future distribution. The cadets had a great time helping community members impacted by the pandemic and are proud to continue the unit’s legacy of community service while also adhering to all COVID protocols.

TCHS AFJROTC Cadets Earn Their FAA Part 107 License

Three senior cadets in the AFJROTC program at TCHS–Mateo Franqui, Dominik Heintz, and Alex Antonakos–earned their Part 107 license through the Federal Aviation Administration. By passing this rigorous exam, they can operate Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUAS) commercially and in the national airspace system, opening tremendously lucrative employment opportunities. Their certification and licensing are the result of succeeding in the classroom through two years of dual enrollment classes taught and offered by the TCHS AFJROTC program through Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). TCHS AFJROTC Air Commando Team “Outruns Hunger”

The Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC Air Commando Team kicked off its season by running in the Treasure Coast Food Bank “Outrun Hunger” 5K on Saturday, September 17th. The 5K race, organized by the Treasure Coast Food Bank as a fundraiser and to raise awareness of food challenges in the Treasure Coast, was run along the intercoastal waterway in Ft. Pierce. TCHS Advanced Manufacturing Hosts Career Day

Treasure Coast High’s (TCHS) Advanced Manufacturing Advisory Board hosted Career Day on Microsoft Teams!  Business partners from Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Apprenticeship, Piper Aircraft Apprenticeship, Indian River Select Freshco, Indian River State College and CareerSource Research Coast participated. TCHS Instructor Phil Depuy and his Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering students heard about apprenticeships, job openings, 2-year college programs, the importance of a resume, and wisely choosing references. It was a great morning for all!

TCHS 9th and 11th Graders Achieve Lifesaving Milestone with CPR Certification

According to the National Library of Medicine, bystander CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival during cardiac arrest! This week, the freshman and junior classes at Treasure Coast High School proudly completed their CPR certifications, equipping them with essential lifesaving skills. This achievement not only enhances their readiness to respond in emergencies but also contributes to a safer community. TCHS 11th-Grade Titans Participate in US History EOC Boot Camp Preps

Our 11th-grade students recently took part in a United States History pod takeover, an intensive boot camp designed to prepare them for their upcoming End-of-Course (EOC) exam in May. Led by our exceptional teachers, this boot camp provided students with a comprehensive review of key historical events, concepts, and themes. TCGCSA Donated Tablets for Students

Mr. Matt Boyd, Treasure Coast Golf Course Superintendents Association President, was recognized at the April 14th school board meeting for donating 10 tablets valued at $3000. The tablets have been used to support student differentiated learning needs. Ms. Laure Goss, speech-language pathologist, described what the learning tool has meant for student acquisition of knowledge. Mrs. Laura Kilburn, parent of Logan Kilburn a student from St. Lucie West Centennial High School who received one of the tablet, expressed her thanks and stated how this has benefited her child. TCBA Partnership

St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) and Treasure Coast Builders Association (TCBA) continue to grow the pipeline for students in the Skilled Trade fields. Members of TCBA met with teachers and school administrators at Port St. Lucie High School to plan for the school year.

Tate Stern Received A STAR Award

Mr. Tate Stern was presented the STAR (Special Thanks And Recognition) Award at the school board meeting on April 14, 2015. Mr. Stern is a plumber for St. Lucie Public School District. He was nominated by Mrs. Dianne Young, Principal at Lakewood Park Elementary School. Mrs. Young shared that Mr. Stern goes above and beyond the call of duty at their school, and that he makes sure all work is completed in a timely manner with safety for all students and staff in mind. Take Your Parent to School for Kids at Hope Day at Chester A. Moore Elementary

CA Moore had a Take Your Parent to School Day on November 12th for parents to go to their child’s classroom for 30 minutes and observe the teacher conferencing with students.  The teachers also gave strategies for parents to assist their children at home with reading.  We hope to continue these events, rotating math and reading.  We embrace the Kids at Hope philosophy along with the Treasure Hunter’s Pledge and student pledge that is recited daily on our morning show.  We utilize the caring adult as well, as it is critical that our students know that they have a caring … Read More

In an awards ceremony at Indian River State College, 44 8th/9th graders were awarded life-changing 4-year scholarships through the Take Stock In Children Program. Take Steps to Stay Healthy

Take steps to keep yourself and others healthy by following some everyday actions: Stay home when you are sick. If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way. Clean and disinfect surfaces or objects. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill.

Summer band rehearsals are vital to a productive marching band season. Fort Pierce Westwood High School is in tune with all high schools in St. Lucie Public Schools as they prepare before the start of school.
