TCHS Receives Praise from Purple Heart Recipient

The Treasure Coast AFJROTC was recently recognized by Chief Thomas Mateo, SSgt, USMC (Retired) a six-time Purple Heart Recipient and President of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Purple Heart Association, for the Honor Guard POW/MIA presentation at the recent DDS4Vets Gala. Chief Mateo, who is also a retired Police Chief from the local area, was at one time the youngest U.S. Military member in Vietnam. TCHS Participates in the 9/11 Patriot’s Day Ceremony

Thirteen Folds of Glory holds high significance to our armed forces. This tradition requires the U.S. American Flag to be lowered and systematically folded into a tight triangle. TCHS ROTC Cadets explained that this triangle shape is symbolic of honorable values such as liberty and sacrifice. On September 11, Treasure Coast High School’s ROTC program proudly honored our nation’s fallen heroes of 9/11 during the annual Patriot’s Day ceremony. Treasure Coast High School’s Criminal Justice and Biotechnology students competed at the SkillsUSA State Conference in Lakeland, Florida.  Students pictured, competed in a range of events from Career Pathways Showcase (Science and Public Safety) to Community Service. TCHS – Outstanding Teacher of the year

Each year, the Florida Council for the Social Studies honors educators across the state at their annual conference.  11th grade US History teacher at Treasure Coast High School, Joe Curatolo, was recognized at the 61st annual conference as the Outstanding High School Social Studies Teacher of the Year for St. Lucie County.  Administrators across the district nominated teachers from their schools to be considered for this honor.  Mr. Curatolo’s leadership and drive to bring quality lessons to his students made him a great choice for our high school winner.

The TCHS Titan Sound Band has rocked the District 13 Marching Festival, earning superior ratings in every category! TCHS Medical Students Attend Virtual Presentation with Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency

Students within Mrs. Becky Loupe’s medical classes (Treasure Coast High School) participated in a guest speaker presentation with Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency, University of Miami.  This virtual event was hosted by Cynthia Hacker, the Life Alliance representative and a member of St. Lucie Public School’s Medical Program Advisory Board.

TCHS Leads the Way at TCBS

International Business Students from Treasure Coast High School attended the 11th Annual Treasure Coast Business Summit (TCBS) — the Treasure Coast’s largest business-to-business summit and expo, providing a networking and educational experience for International Business Academy students to meet business leaders and professionals, learn about current opportunities, and establish relationships for internships, volunteer opportunities, and connections with local sponsors.  

TCHS Launches State-Approved LPN Program

Big news for St. Lucie Public Schools! Treasure Coast High School has officially launched Florida’s first state-approved Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program at a public high school. This groundbreaking program opens the door for students to graduate high school with not only a High School diploma but also the skills, training, and certification to step directly into the healthcare field as a Licensed Practical Nurse! TCHS Key Club and The Gardens

TCHS Key Club had their first event on Sept. 18.  This was an orientation of the St. Lucie Botanical Gardens.  Students learned about the Gardens, how they are kept, and how to volunteer. The Botanical Gardens hosts a variety of events, but have always welcomed TCHS!

TCHS Juniors and Seniors Visit Florida International University

Treasure Coast High School students recently had an exciting opportunity to tour the campus of Florida International University (FIU). This visit allowed our students to explore the vibrant campus, learn about various academic programs, and get a glimpse of college life. A big thank you to FIU for hosting us and providing such a warm welcome. Our students returned with a wealth of knowledge and a renewed sense of motivation for their academic journeys ahead.

TCHS Jumps Into the Camera (OBSCURA)

Ms. Stark’s Photography 1 class at Treasure Coast High School is learning how the camera was invented.  Students learned about the humble beginnings of the camera by building their personal camera obscura (Latin for dark room)  and turning their classroom into a giant camera obscura.  Through this, they learned how light travels in a straight line causing the image to project inverted, and how the size of the aperture affects the projected image.  By learning about the camera obscura, the students have an understanding of what happens inside their cameras. TCHS JROTC Visits Embry-Riddle University

TCHS’s JROTC students visited Embry-Riddle University for their fourth-quarter CIA trip. During the visit, students explored the diverse range of classes and activities that the university offers. The experience was both enlightening and inspiring, as students discovered the various programs that make Embry-Riddle a leader in aviation and aerospace education. Among the highlights were the state-of-the-art flight simulations, which gave cadets a taste of what it’s like to train as a pilot. They also delved into the engineering courses, where the cadets learned how to design and build innovative solutions to real-world problems. TCHS JROTC – The Bataan Death March

Over the two-day weekend of February 12th and 13th, Cadets at Treasure Coast High School participated in the Bataan Death March. The march was originally the forcible transfer by the Imperial Japanese Army of 60,000 – 80,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war along a 60–69-mile march. Around 5,000 to 18,000 Filipinos died and up to 500 to 650 Americans died as well. TCHS JROTC participates in Homeless Veterans Stand-Down

On May 17th, 2018 Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC participated in the first annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down in Fort Pierce, alongside many other organizations. They supplied items such as sleeping bags, care bags, food, boots, and many other helpful items to veterans in need. This is the first of many veterans outreach events for upcoming years, making it one of their unit goals to continue to help struggling veterans. TCHS JROTC Marches on MLK Day

On Monday, January 17, 90 Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC cadets led the high schools in the annual Martin Luther King Day parade in Fort Pierce. On MLK Day, we are encouraged to reflect on the principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change espoused by Dr. King. By participating in this parade, we were able to represent Treasure Coast High School and honor Dr. King and his ability to unite people of color and start the Civil Rights movement.
