Centennial cadets meet Coast Guard Commandant

St Lucie West Centennial High school Navy Junior ROTC cadets presented the colors at the recent Treasure Coast Navy League Dinner honoring 95 year old Rear Admiral William Jenkins. Admiral Robert J. Papp, the Commandant of the Coast Guard, lauded Admiral Jenkins for his many years of outstanding service to the nation. Leavitt, the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard.

The cadets of St. Lucie West Centennial High School Navy Junior ROTC, recently held their annual Military Ball at the Port Saint Lucie Community Center. The evening included dinner, awards, promotions, and dancing to great music. Centennial cadet competition team qualifies for state championship

St. Lucie West Centennial High School NJROTC competition team recently participated at Flanagan High School’s field meet in Pembroke Pines, Florida. This event included 16 of Florida’s finest NJROTC units. Displaying outstanding motivation and skill, the cadets brought home 10 trophies. The cadets took fifth place 200 yard relay, third place team curl ups, fourth place color guard, fifth place unarmed basic, first place armed basic, second place armed exhibition, second place unarmed exhibition, first place personnel inspection, second place overall drill, and third place overall, qualifying for the state championship for the third time this season.

Centennial Basketball Team Inspires Young Readers

In an interactive event at Allapattah Flats K-8, the Centennial Boys’ Basketball team took time off the court to inspire young readers. As part of a unique March Madness-themed activity, the athletes visited first-grade classrooms to read to the students. The players enjoyed sharing their favorite stories with the eager young audience. Their presence brought a sense of excitement and engagement as the students listened attentively to each story. Centennial Baseball Players Read to SLWK-8 1st Graders

St. Lucie West Centennial High School baseball players visited Mrs. Yancy’s first grade class at St. Lucie West K-8 School recently. The players introduced themselves to the students and read a book to them. Afterward, students asked questions about being a baseball player and what it was like over at the “big school” (SLWCHS). The players seemed to enjoy themselves and our first graders were ecstatic to meet the “big boys”! The baseball players will be returning next month for an interview session, where the first graders will interview the players.

Celebrating Titan PBIS Excellence

Our dedicated students who exemplified the PBIS Titan expectations were recently rewarded for their outstanding efforts! Meeting attendance and behavior standards was no easy feat, but our Titans rose to the challenge and surpassed expectations. Last week, SLW Centennial proudly celebrated 10th Grade Incentive Week, a special event designed to recognize and reward the hard work and achievements of our students. This initiative was one of many aimed at motivating and encouraging academic excellence. The top 50 scoring students and the top 50 students who demonstrated significant growth from PM2 to PM3 were honored. The Osprey Family at Oak Hammock K-8 celebrate their A-Team for Administrative Professionals Day 2021.  The A-Team was showered with flowers, chocolate and words of appreciation.  They were reminded, day in and day out, they make Oak Hammock K- 8 a better place to be and work. On February 3rd, Bayshore VPK, Kindergarten, and first-grade students celebrated the 100th day of school. Celebrating the 100th day of school is a fun and educational milestone for students and teachers. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the learning journey thus far and to engage in creative activities that reinforce concepts taught throughout the year. Celebrating the 100th Day-Mosaic Digital Academy

Mrs. Lankow’s classroom was buzzing with creativity as students celebrated the 100th day of school. They showcased projects highlighting perseverance, counting skills, and fun. Students created vibrant posters with 100 stickers, stamps, or drawings, each telling a unique story. Students wore handmade shirts and hats adorned with sequins and fabric numbers, turning the classroom into a mini fashion show. A challenge involved building a structure with 100 Lego bricks, fostering problem-solving. Students worked on puzzles, matching pieces, while practicing math skills through grouping and estimating. The day was filled with laughter and learning. Great work, Mosaic Digital Academy Owls!

At SLW Centennial High School, to celebrate academic achievement, 250 students who made significant learning gains in the FAST PM2 Assessment received a special treat from Mister Softee. Congratulations to all of the AP Spanish Language students who passed with scores of 3, 4 and 5. Ms. Denski’s students had a 100% passing rate! These test takers were among the first to take the newly redesigned AP Spanish Language and Culture course which went into effect in fall 2013. The new curriculum integrates the following five themes: communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities.
