Fifth grade students Adriana Edmond, Julia Pacek, and Jakiah Webb in Christy Nuccio’s class at F.K. Sweet Elementary are enjoying ice cream sundaes for earning reading points. Students at F. K. Sweet are all involved in the Scholastic Counts program and are enjoying reading, testing, and earning points. Teachers may set individual or class goals for students.

Over 100 early childhood educators engaged in a virtual conference that took place on Saturday, February 6th. The Keynote Speaker was Jane Whitaker, while Craig Jerome and Laurie Boyer handled the technology aspect of the conference. Presenting partners for the virtual conference include the Early Learning Coalition, ALPI Head Start, and St. Lucie Public Schools. The event was sponsored by business partners including, Discount School Supply, Kaplan, Kidvision, and Lakeshore.
The field of Early Childhood Education includes teachers, teacher assistants, administrators, and others who assist young children in education and development. Specific responsibilities vary based on the job and the age of the children. Hands-on learning allows students to explore this career field and work with young children in educational facilities. Our auditorium was filled with students for exciting grade-level assemblies packed with energy and important information. Eagle student-athletes showed their team and community spirit by working together to lend helping hands to assist others in putting up shutters and aiding in other pre-storm preparations. Athletes from the football, basketball, baseball, and soccer teams worked with their coaches to help others prepare for Irma. After a full day doing something nice for others, the young gentlemen received a kindness in return. Golden Corral in St. Lucie West honored them with discount for lunch!!!
The St. Lucie West Centennial E.A.G.L.E.S. (Empowered Adults Gaining Life and Employability Skills) are reaching new heights as they acquire valuable skills working in the school cafeteria. Throughout the school year, these dedicated individuals have been collaborating with the cafeteria staff, learning to prepare various food items such as egg packs, salsa packs, and premade meals for lunch. The Port St. Lucie High School’s Drill Team competed in the W. T. Dwyer High School Drill Meet on Saturday February 3rd. Competing in platoon, squad, and exhibition drill and winning in several categories, the Jaguars placed in the top three. The Jaguars will continue to practice for their next meet at Seminole Ridge High School Drill meet.

FORT PIERCE, FL – An innovative partnership that has been in development for several months is literally taking off on Wednesday, May 11 at Adams Arena in Fort Pierce as middle school students compete for top honors by navigating drones through a maze.
