Our own Jayden is a 6-year-old 1st grader at Mosaic Digital Academy who took 3rd place in K12, inc’s 10th Annual Art Contest. Jayden’s art project, “Journey to the Moon,” was created with paper, cardboard, glue, glitter, paint, stickers, number stencils, cut outs and tissue paper. Jayden enjoyed splattering paint all over the cardboard to create the stars…it was messy, fun and effective. REE’s 4th & 5th Grade Choir showed off their incredible talents during their annual Christmas performance! Solos, duets, dancing and even a hula hoop presentation kicked off the night followed by the choir performing multiple Christmas favorites. Parents brought treats galore for everyone in attendance.  

Wonderful job to the Northstar STEaM students, their instructor, Christine Nurse, and ESE Chairpersons Sherri Yacovino and De Green for their great work with our ESE students. The excitement was palpable as students learned new and exciting hands-on information. Northstars STEaM Team students provided a laser and photonics hands-on lab for our wonderful exceptional students. The students designed and created an authentic triangulated laser and photonics security system.

These 4th and 5th grade Manatee Academy students are thrilled with the prizes they received after competing in our recent Battle of the Books Championship match!  Students read 13-15 of the Sunshine State Young Reader Award nominees for this year.  Their overall favorite? Pie by Sarah Weeks.

The walls were bursting at the seams with the nearly two hundred students and parents who attended White City Elementary School’s Math/Science Night and Scholastic Book Fair last Tuesday, December 8th.  Fun was had by all as they ate dinner, played math games, shopped for books, and finished the evening with a sweet treat of a science activity with Mr. Lewis, our Teacher of the Year.  All families took home a deck of cards as a door prize to practice the math games they learned.  

There was the most wonderful visit to the Northport Media Center with Mrs. Kemp and Ms. Lusardi’s 3rd graders recently. The students buddy read holiday books from the huge basket of book collections in the Northport Media Center, read holiday and Christmas stories by themselves and then listened to “Twas the Night Before Christmas” read by Mrs. Gruszka, Northport Media Specialist. and teachers sang “Jingle Bells,” “Silver Bells,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”  Then the students  sang “Hot, Hot Chocolate,” a song that they sang together at the Holiday Christmas Concert held at Northport as a gift to … Read More

Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition’s Volleyball Team “B” recently played in a District tournament, and we are so proud to announce that they took second place. These girls worked very hard to get ready for the tournament under the direction of their coaches, Felicia Smith and Stephanie Remsen. Averi Sams-Wilson and Micaela Goulet  from Mr. Zakrajsek’s kindergarten class reached their winter reading goal for the 100 Book Challenge.  Five hundred sixty-eight students from Allapattah Flats celebrated reaching their goals with hot chocolate, cookies, and a movie.  Students also received bracelets to mark their steps.

Manatee Academy’s Student Government and Honor Society will be hosting a 5k Run/Walk to support the fight against hunger. The event to benefit the Treasure Coast Food Bank will be held on January 23, 2016. Registration is available online at www.active.com and search for “Manatee” or participants can obtain registration information from Charles Pilson at Manatee Academy (340-4745). The first 125 participants to register will receive a free t-shirt!

On Monday, December 7th, the first graders at Manatee Academy were fortunate to have Port St. Lucie’s  Mayor Gregory Oravec as a special guest speaker. He talked about the duties and responsibilities he has as our mayor. The students found this very informative and had many questions for him. This was an excellent opportunity for them to continue to learn about the roles leaders have in our community.

REE families came away from Publix with more than a full cart after another great Math Night! Students had a grade appropriate worksheet to do with their parents or other students. They were rewarded at the end with a sweet math homework pass and a dessert! A group from our 4th and 5th grade choir caroled the customers as they walked in. Thank you to Mrs. Henderson, REE’s fabulous Math Coach, for a “delicious” night of learning!
