F. K. Sweet Kindergartners Connect to Literature

Kindergartners in Morgan Haupt’s Class at Frances K. Sweet Magnet School related to the Little Red Hen’s lesson about working together in order to enjoy the final product.   The students helped their teacher make cupcakes and then they were able to frost them and eat them as a reward for their efforts. Northport Thrilled With “Priceless” Business Partner!

Northport K-8 School administrators and teachers are over the moon with the news that the school has been “adopted” by the local Walmart Distribution Center. On a recent morning, teachers were called to the Media Center for a surprise visit from several representatives from the Distribution Center. The group expressed to teachers that several of the staff who work at the center have children who attend Northport and that they would like to partner with the school to enhance community relations and to extend a helping hand to give teachers added support. Weatherbee’s Peer Leadership Program

Once a month, Weatherbee Elementary will host guest speakers who are positive and  powerful role models to come in and speak for one hour to students who will benefit from this event. We started October 30th with Dr. Perry as our first guest speaker!

“Real Men Read” – Dads Come to Morningside Elementary

  Dads, Granddads and male caregivers wanted to be more involved in their students’ education, so this week Morningside Elementary dedicated two days to “Real Men Read.”  This  program allows men in the students’ lives to come into the classroom and read to their children and their children’s classmates.

Students Find Opportunities to Serve Their Community Through Humane Society Partnership

A team of students from Ft. Pierce Magnet School of the Arts (FPMSA) is working hand in paw with the Humane Society of St. Lucie County, Inc. Educators Attend Institute With Dr. Norman Webb

Fund Raiser for Kerri Walukiewicz — A Family Reunion!

On Wednesday, October 28, the Van Duzer Foundation hosted a fund raiser for Rivers Edge Principal, Kerri Walukiewicz, at the Big Apple Pizza near IRSC. Local Teachers Benefit from Walmart Teacher Rewards Program

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Walmart awarded 20 teachers from Allapattah Flats K-8 School with $50 reward cards to purchase classroom supplies that will help students as part of the company’s Teacher Rewards program. For the sixth year, Walmart will donate over $4.5 million to provide 90,000 teachers across the United States with reward cards to help offset the cost of classroom expenses at the beginning of the school year. Theatre Group Performs at Manatee Academy

Manatee Academy 4th and 5th grades were enraptured by the performance of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by The Riverside Children’s Theatre professional group this week. Students and teachers have been reading the Narnia books for the last month and thought this interactive interpretation was “Awesome!”

“Halloweengo” a Hit at REE!

REE hosted their annual Bingo for Books with a Halloween twist thrown in. Coupling it with a Title 1 presentation, the students then paraded by grade level across the stage in their costumes. Bingo then ensued with students winning a book every time they achieved BINGO! Our ever fabulous PTO handily decorated the cafeteria and gave out creepy treats! Everyone went home with a book and a smile!
