Palm Pointe wins 2nd Place in State Mock Trial Competition

7th grade Civics students at Palm Pointe won 2nd place in the state in the 3rd annual FLREA mock trial competition. Students were given a case and had to write opening and closing statements, question and cross-examine witnesses, and then videotape their presentation of the case for submission. The students would like to thank Mrs. Oliveira (Centennial H.S. Law Academy) and Judge Narline Smartt (St. Lucie County Court) for their invaluable guidance and assistance.

Summer Literacy Challenge

Join students all across Florida as they take on the Summer Literacy Adventure Challenge and pledge to read every day. Set a personal goal, work to accomplish it and strive for success! Florida’s students are being challenged to pledge to read as many books as possible throughout the summer break. Each student can fill out his or her pledge at Summer Literacy Pledge. Following the summer break, the department will recognize the top 10 schools with the highest percentage of participation. The school whose students read the most books will receive a surprise visit from First Lady Ann Scott.

HS Graduates Revisit the Nest at MSE

MSE Blue Jay High School Seniors come back to the nest for a last visit!  From left to right they are Julia Theiss, Syia Hill, Nicole Hernandez, Jessica Smith, Rachel Jones, and Maddie Sands.  Syia, Nicole, Rachel, and Maddie were all in Ms. Williams-Johnson’s 5th grade class.  Ricky Estrada joined them shortly after the picture. Local Student Places Third at the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – Three St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) students competed in the 2016 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair along with approximately 1,700 other students representing 77 countries from around the world. Koushal Rao, the 2016 Lincoln Park Academy valedictorian, was awarded third place in the category of Biomedical Sciences.  His project, “Targeting Mistranslation in Cancer Therapy” aligns with his college and career goals of entering the medical field. Bayshore Celebrates Sunshine State Readers

Bayshore Elementary School is excited to celebrate our Sunshine State Readers!  The Sunshine State Readers Awards Program is a statewide reading motivation program which encourages students to read independently for personal satisfaction.  Students earned various prizes throughout the year, including an ice cream party and trophies for those who read all 15 books!  Congratulations!

REE’s Wilderness Club Ends Year on a High Note

Today on the Wilderness Club’s final hike, we discovered that an Eagle Scout finished our outdoor classroom down by Otter Pond and it is ready for teachers to come out with their classes and use.  In our final 14 days as students are getting antsy and need a change of scenery, this is a perfect venue for a science lesson, a springboard into writing, a class reward/read aloud, a place to do some personal journal reflection about their school year or summer plans.

SLWCHS Student Wins Outstanding Youth Award

Albert Morgan is a rising junior in the Allied Health program at SLWCHS. He is an excellent student, always attending school, on time for class, and always well-prepared. He is an active member of HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Albert is a member of the Boys & Girls Club, belonging to the Chuck Hill Unit. St. Lucie Public Schools Win Big at State and Move to National Competition

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – Next stop – Los Angeles.  That’s where Manatee Academy’s Project Citizen portfolio is advancing.  The team of seventh grade students from Ms. Megan Shaver’s Civics class placed first in the state for their portfolio entitled, “Keep Port St. Lucie Afloat,” and the team placed second in the oral competition.  Representatives from Manatee’s team presented their problem, possible solutions, action plan, and portfolio which included the team’s research binder and presentation board to a panel of prestigious judges on May 20 in Palm Beach Gardens.  The suite of judges was comprised of Nova faculty, members of the … Read More
