Palm Pointe wins 2nd Place in State Mock Trial Competition

7th grade Civics students at Palm Pointe won 2nd place in the state in the 3rd annual FLREA mock trial competition. Students were given a case and had to write opening and closing statements, question and cross-examine witnesses, and then videotape their presentation of the case for submission. The students would like to thank Mrs. Oliveira (Centennial H.S. Law Academy) and Judge Narline Smartt (St. Lucie County Court) for their invaluable guidance and assistance.

Summer Literacy Challenge

Join students all across Florida as they take on the Summer Literacy Adventure Challenge and pledge to read every day. Set a personal goal, work to accomplish it and strive for success! Florida’s students are being challenged to pledge to read as many books as possible throughout the summer break. Each student can fill out his or her pledge at Summer Literacy Pledge. Following the summer break, the department will recognize the top 10 schools with the highest percentage of participation. The school whose students read the most books will receive a surprise visit from First Lady Ann Scott.

Local Student Places Third at the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair

LUCIE COUNTY – Three St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) students competed in the 2016 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair along with approximately 1,700 other students representing 77 countries from around the world. Koushal Rao, the 2016 Lincoln Park Academy valedictorian, was awarded third place in the category of Biomedical Sciences.  His project, “Targeting Mistranslation in Cancer Therapy” aligns with his college and career goals of entering the medical field. REE’s Wilderness Club Ends Year on a High Note

Today on the Wilderness Club’s final hike, we discovered that an Eagle Scout finished our outdoor classroom down by Otter Pond and it is ready for teachers to come out with their classes and use.  In our final 14 days as students are getting antsy and need a change of scenery, this is a perfect venue for a science lesson, a springboard into writing, a class reward/read aloud, a place to do some personal journal reflection about their school year or summer plans.
