Village Green is United Against Bullying

Students at Village Green took part in Anti Bullying Week by promoting positive anti-bullying messages with a poster contest and participating in a wide range of anti-bullying programs coordinated by school counselor, Nicole Jakubiak. Village Green Hosts the NED Show

The NED Show is an innovative, character education assembly. Using humor, storytelling, audience participation, and amazing object lessons including yo-yo and magic tricks, Village Green students learned through the adventures of NED, a character kids (and adults) can relate to. His name is an acronym for: (N)ever Give Up (E)ncourage Others (D)o Your Best The NED Program used a multi-sensory learning model to motivate, encourage, and inspire our students to become champions at school and in life.    

Village Green Gets ‘Energized’ with Kilowatt Kitchen

Village Green students in PreK-fifth grade watched an energy efficiency program, Kilowatt Kitchen Livestream Special, by the National Theatre for Children. Students watched entertaining sketches featuring a variety of characters discussing electricity and energy conservation. This was followed by an interactive Q&A as well as an exciting shout out to our school!   

Village Green Flag Folding

On Wednesday, November 8, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC went to Village Green Elementary to teach about flag folding and about the Class B uniform to first graders and to fifth graders. The JROTC cadets taught the meaning of the colors and each fold in the American Flag.

Village Green Fire and Ambulance Demo

Village Green students had the opportunity to tour a fire engine and ambulance truck this week. Stacey Carter, from the Fire Safety Program, along with St Lucie County Firefighters, delivered an educational and interactive fire safety message to our students. The firefighters explained the equipment and tools carried on the trucks and the students learned how the equipment might be used in various types of emergencies. This was such a great experience for our students!

Village Green Environmental Studies School Teacher Wins First Place in Florida Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching Economics

Jacqueline Harris, a First grade teacher at Village Green Environmental Studies School won 1st Place in the Out-of-the-Box category in the 35th Annual Florida Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching Economics. Mrs. Harris’ project focused on incorporating Social Studies across the curriculum where her First grade students created a mini café and gift shop called the Primary Kidz Café with a classroom mini factory with assembly lines and was given the opportunity to work with two Ninth grade volunteers which they rarely have the chance to do. Village Green Environmental Studies School Neon Dance

The PBIS team at Village Green Environmental Studies School held their 3rd annual Neon Dance on Friday night. Village Green students and their families danced the night away in the glow in the dark cafeteria. The dance offered glow in the dark face painting, tattoos and fairy hair which had guests of all ages thrilled! There were so many cool costumes and outfits that lit up the room. Village Green Environmental Studies School Explore Space

In celebration of a successful unit of study on Space, 5th-grade students at Village Green Environmental Studies School eagerly wanted to do a roundup of activities centering on the unit’s learning.  Students in Dr. Venzen’s Science class chose activities on creating an image of the sun (the Star of the Solar System), comets, and the phases of the moon, as some of their cherished learning experiences.

Village Green Elementary Honors MLK Jr.

Mrs. Ankiel’s Kindergartners recently learned about the life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The students learned about his powerful speeches and civil rights work. Mrs. Ankiel uses the teachings of MLK Jr to help her students learn to solve problems nonviolently and promote love and comradery in her classroom. The students read books, drew and colored a portrait, and participated in classroom activities to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Village Green Elementary Color Guard

On Thursday, November 3rd, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion presented the colors at Village Green Elementary School for their Veterans Day celebration. Commanding the Color Guard was National Flag Bearer Cadet Major Alex Daly-Gomes accompanied by Cadet Sergeant First Class Eathan Clayton as the State Flag Bearer, Cadet First Sergeant Isaac Mendez as the right guard, and Cadet First Sergeant Jonathan Waller as the left guard. The students of Village Green Elementary spoke about the history of the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.

Village Green Commits To Keeping Our Community Clean

Village Green’s Student Council members, supporting 5th graders and their parents/guardians, joined the Annual Caring Community Cleanup Day that was held- Saturday, April 5th, 2025.  The cleanup commenced at City Hall with breakfast and orientation, then volunteers dispersed to their chosen location.  As a group, we agreed that charity starts at home, and therefore we chose Leonard Road and areas around our school to clean.  It was hot, but the volunteers did not succumb to the heat, we persevered by having fun and enjoying each other’s company. Village Green Celebrates SLC Bus Driver

Village Green Elementary appreciates all of the St. Lucie Public Schools Bus Drivers who safely transport our children to and from school day in and day out. We recognized and celebrated all their hard work and dedication to the children this week. Each driver was surprised with a special treat each day this week. The bus drivers were greeted with coffee and breakfast, yummy treats, Village Green shirts, and cards of appreciation from our students. Thank you to all the bus drivers for all that you do!

Village Green Celebrates Our Shining Stars

This past weekend Village Green Environmental Studies School had the privilege to celebrate our Night of the Stars winners at St. Lucie County district’s prestigious annual event. Our hearts swelled with Manatee pride as our exceptional teachers and staff graciously accepted their well-deserved awards. Village Green Celebrates Academic Success

To celebrate the academic success of our Manatees, Village Green Environmental Studies School threw a Pajama Growth Party for those students who showed growth on their iReady Math and Reading Diagnostics. Students who reached specific growth criteria received a certificate for their achievements and an invitation to wear pajamas to school on Friday. In addition, during the student’s resource time, they enjoyed a delicious cupcake along with a dance party and fun games! Village Green Celebrates 50 Years of Earth Day

    Students at Village Green Environmental Studies School respect and cherish the Earth so, it was just natural that they celebrate the 50th year anniversary of Earth Day with a spirit week dedicated to saving the Earth. Students had fun each day participating in a different Earth Day theme as a reminder to their commitment to keeping the Earth clean.            

Village Green Bananas Donated to Drive-Thru Mobile Pantry

Bananas harvested from Village Green Environmental Studies School’s permaculture garden will be included in this week’s Drive-Thru Mobile Pantry!  During the school year, the garden provides rich learning opportunities for students about growing food, the geographical origins of plants, and science standards related to the structures, needs, and processes of plants.  Since the bananas are ripening during the summer months, school staff is harvesting them to donate to our community.

Village Green awarded Whole Kids Foundation Garden Grant!

Village Green Environmental Studies School is excited to announce that we’re partnering with our friends at the Whole Kids Foundation for their Growing Healthy Kids campaign. Due to this generous grant, we will be able to maintain our school garden where our students have the opportunity to learn about growing healthy foods.
