Into the Woods Jr.

Into the Woods, Jr. will be shown at the Southport Middle School cafetorium to the public on Friday, May 26th, 2017 at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:30pm) and Saturday, May 27th, 2017 at 2:30pm (doors open at 2:00pm). Tickets will cost $6.00. Southport Middle School is located at 2420 SE Morningside Blvd. behind the Morningside Library.  

Mariposa’s Second Graders Study Antarctica

At Mariposa Elementary, Ms. Humphrey‘s second grade class recently created informational books on Antarctica and Emperor Penguins. The students created 3-dimensional penguins with baby chicks and a penguin rookery. Better Speech and Hearing Month

During the month of May, Northport celebrates Better Speech and Hearing month.  We are so thankful for our very own speech and language therapists, Jennifer Carey and Nicole Sedan.  Speech and Language therapists are some of the unsung heroes that make a school a successful learning environment. School based Speech and Language Therapy addresses sound articulations, stuttering issues, reading comprehension, vocabulary, syntax problems as well as pragmatic issues such as eye contact, turn-taking and coping strategies and many other integral aspects of speech and hearing. Northport K-8 School has been the fortunate recipient of the assistance and support of the First United Methodist Church of Port Saint Lucie.  The church and the school have joined mission statements and worked together for the good of the children of Northport and to benefit the community.  Northport is a Title I school with a 100% free lunch population.  The support and good will from church members has been phenomenal and has truly brought community services directly into the school.  Not only have church volunteers helped out in classrooms, but they have also kick-started the Northport Summer Reading Program. LPA Creative Writer Wins at IRSC

Isabelle McConville represented Lincoln Park Academy in IRSC’s annual Creative Writing Contest. May ArtSpace Features Cobras

The Fort Pierce Branch Library’s ArtSpace features works by students from Fort Pierce Central High School on display during May. Showcasing two-dimensional works from students, several of these pieces were part of their senior portfolio. Inspired by contemporary and classical artists, the students’ work experiments with various lines, values and movements, creating incredibly intricate designs and sophisticated compositions. The Fort Pierce Branch Library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Fridays from          9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

PSL Jaguar Battalion Field Day

Jaguar Battalion Field Day   Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted their own field day on May 6, 2017. The JROTC unit uses field day as a way to reward the cadets for their hard work and achievements, as well as, to use the teamwork and leadership skills they learned in the program. Fort Pierce Westwood’s Veterinary Tech program welcomes CORE Contents Restoration’s partnership and support.  The company’s generous donation of supplies will support various activities within the Veterinary Tech program and will contribute to the fund raising efforts of an anesthesia machine. This purchase will help achieve the goal of opening a surgery center on campus to expand student opportunities for learning and growth. Mariposa Elementary Fourth Grade “Rocks” the FSA

At Mariposa Elementary, several people donated rocks to encourage and inspire Ms. Erica Morales’ students to do well on their Math FSA. She hid the rocks around her classroom the day of the Math FSA. The students were surprised and went on a rock hunt. They had a blast!  The rocks were meant to inspire the students to do their best. LPA Impresses at Leadership Conference
