Lakewood Park Elementary Mathematicians

All third-grade classes at Lakewood Park have been busy creating their own counting manipulatives in order to better explore mathematic concepts in a hands-on manner. These kid-made manipulatives are being used to reinforce multiplication and division concepts and will be brought out again soon when we explore rounding. Third-graders at Lakewood Park Elementary are exploring, learning, and creating their way to success!!

Lakewood Park Elementary Math Night at Winn Dixie

Lakewood Park Elementary students and parents had the opportunity to explore the world of math in real-world situations by attending a family math night at Winn Dixie.  Math Night was a huge success allowing those in attendance to work on their math skills, singing holiday songs, face painting, and having a great time visiting with members of the Falcon family as well as members of the community.  We had exactly 100 students sign in for this event and many of our classrooms were represented.  In our VPK—2nd grade event attendance contest, Mrs. Jones’ Kindergarten class had the most students in … Read More

Lakewood Park Elementary Kindergarten Engineers Take on Chicka Chicka Challenge

On our early dismissal day, Lakewood Park kindergarten students turned into engineers during STOP and STEM Day! The day began with an exciting question: What does an engineer do? Students learned that engineers solve problems—and then they were given one of their own. The letters of the alphabet wanted to climb the Chicka Chicka BOOM BOOM tree, but the tree wasn’t strong enough. It wobbled and fell, knocking all the letters off! The challenge? Build a stronger tree that can hold all the letters. Students put on their “engineer hats,” examined the materials provided, and created a plan. Then the building began! Lakewood Park Elementary Girls on the Run Celebrates Girl Power

This year’s Girls on the Run season at Lakewood Park Elementary was nothing short of inspiring! Our Grades 3–5 team began with the theme “What Makes Me, Me!” and built confidence through lessons like Star Power, Happy Pace, Self-Talk, and Feel Your Feelings. The girls learned to shine together, pause and breathe, and foster true friendship. Mid-season, they completed a practice 5K with incredible energy and support! Lakewood Park Elementary fourth grade students make their own glue

Lakewood Park Elementary fourth grade students recently participated in a STEM design project called “Make it Stick.” They used common kitchen ingredients like flour, corn starch, baking soda and salt to mix a solution to see which group could make the strongest glue. Students tested their glue using beans and index cards.  After their first glue solution was created, they analyzed and recorded the class results to design a new recipe using a different combination of the same ingredients. Lakewood Park Elementary Field Trip to Fort Pierce Central

During their Media Resource, Lakewood Park Elementary’s Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classes have been pen pals with some popular Characters (who look a lot like some very talented drama students from Fort Pierce Central High School).  Students exchanged cards and letters throughout the year and then went to Fort Pierce Central to meet their pen pal.  Characters put on an amazing show of skits, singing, dancing and games! Lakewood Park Elementary End of Year Carnival Brings Joy, Rewards, and Celebration to Students

The excitement was in the air as our K–5 students gathered for one of the most anticipated events of the year, our PBIS End of the Year Carnival! What a fun-filled celebration for students who demonstrated positive behavior, kindness, and responsibility throughout the school year. With bright decorations, upbeat music, and smiling faces everywhere, the carnival transformed our campus into a vibrant space of laughter and joy. Lakewood Park Elementary Community Partnerships

Lakewood Park was honored to be selected by Big Apple Ministry for their student Back to School supply drive. Supplies were collected at St. Bernadette’s Catholic church during the entire month of July.  Principal Melrose had the honor of speaking at several services to thank Big Apple Ministry for choosing Lakewood Park and to share the great things about Lakewood Park students, teachers, and families. Lakewood Park Elementary chorus performs at City Hall and local service group

Students in the Lakewood Park Elementary School chorus recently entertained for staff members at Fort Pierce City Hall and the St. Lucie County Telephone Pioneers with holiday music. The 64 performers were dressed in white shirts, navy pants, with a plaid vest of white and blue checks. The boys had bowties while the girls had unique bows that set off the festive fashion. The students, led by Angela Moretti, had a melodious sound for the holiday season that had the audience clapping their hands and tapping feet with songs such as Rock ‘n Roll Snowman and Blitzen’s Boogie. Both performances were received with … Read More

Lakewood Park Elementary celebrates with Tunnel of Hope

Lakewood Park Elementary School students and staff recently celebrated the FCAT Writes with a special Tunnel of Hope. The school body lined hallways holding posters and encouraging students as each of the fourth grade class passed by. Special visitors and volunteers also participated, including School Board chairman Debbie Hawley and instructional suppport for science technology specialist Teri Barenborg. After the fourth grade students passed through the Tunnel of Hope, they enjoyed a special assembly, where they had a chance to answer questions to go on stage for special creative activities to enhance writing skills needed for making the perfect 4.0 score. … Read More

Lakewood Park Elementary Celebrates the Annual Vocabulary Parade

Lakewood Park Elementary held its Third Annual Vocabulary parade on Wednesday, October 27th. Students and teachers dressed as a variety of words from math and reading terms to science and social studies vocabulary words. All participants paraded during lunchtime and shared their words and definitions. This event is meant to reinforce what the students have learned in the classroom—another great day at our school. Lakewood Park Elementary Celebrates Students with Perfect Scores in FSA Writing

Three of our Lakewood Park Elementary Falcons were treated to a delicious lunch today courtesy of Texas Roadhouse in St. Lucie West. These fifth-graders were rewarded because they earned a perfect score of 10 on the FSA Writes last year when they were fourth-grade Falcons. Fourth and Fifth graders, stay tuned to find out about what the reward will be for students earning a perfect score on the writing assessment this year! Way to go Falcons!!

Lakewood Park Elementary Celebrates Special Olympics Awareness Day

On Wednesday, March 5, Lakewood Park Elementary School came together to celebrate Special Olympics Awareness Day. The event aimed to promote understanding, respect, and inclusion of individuals with disabilities.  In preparation for the celebration, the media center hosted a special presentation focused on teaching students and staff about disabilities, and the importance of treating everyone with respect and dignity.  To show their support, students and staff wore red, white, and blue, the signature colors of the Special Olympics. Lakewood Park Elementary Celebrates Fire Pup Day

Fire and Life Safety Educator Stacey Carter, Fire investigator Joe Cox, and Arson K9 Camy went to visit the students in grades K-5 at Lakewood Park Elementary last week. They explained how Camy is beneficial to the Fire District and also introduced them to Dusty the Dragon. Dusty’s a great teaching tool for Fire Safety. His skit goes well with this year’s Fire Prevention theme, Learn the sounds of Fire Safety.  

Lakewood Park Elementary Celebrates Earth Day

Lakewood Park Elementary’s Everglades Champion School committee and our Student Ambassadors celebrated at the St. Lucie Earth Day Festival.  The Earth Day Festival took place on April 12 at the Oxbow Eco-Center. Lakewood Park Falcons shared their passion for being good stewards of our Mother Earth.  The vendor booth included an Everglades Animal Classification activity, a Guess how long it takes to decompose activity, student ambassadors repurposed material art sculptures, and a selfie station.
