FPC Art Students Participate In National Portfolio Day

Fort Pierce Central High School students recently attended National Portfolio Day in downtown Miami – an event specifically for visual artists and designers. Cobras Visit The River

Fort Pierce Central High School Dual Enrollment students participated in a fieldtrip championed by Instructor Robert Ott to Indian River State College. Once on the college campus, Katie Williams and her staff provided valuable information including library instruction and academic services for students. 12th Annual Run for the Coach

Dozens of Lincoln Park Academy students, both alumni and current students, were part of the more than 100 runners and volunteers who came out to support and run in the 12th Annual Run for the Coach 5K, which took place Jan. 20, 2018 beginning at the RiverWalk Center in Fort Pierce.  The 3.1 mile course, through downtown Fort Pierce area and across the South Beach Bridge, is run every year, in memory of former Lincoln Park Academy teacher and coach Wayne Cross, who passed away in 2006, and in honor of teachers and coaches everywhere. Lincoln Park Academy Senior Named Regeneron Science Talent Search Finalist

Lincoln Park Academy senior, Haniya Shareef has been named one of the top 40 a finalists in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. As a top 40 finalist, Haniya will receive at least $25,000 in awards. She was selected from a pool of highly qualified entrants based on her project’s scientific rigor and her potential to become world-changing scientific leaders. Black History Month is celebrated every February and is a time set aside to learn about the accomplishments, culture, and contributions of African Americans. Black History Month 2018 Theme Since 1976, every American president has designated February as Black History Month and endorsed a specific theme. Author Lois McGuire Reads to the Students of Rivers Edge!

Author Lois McGuire visited Rivers Edge Elementary School to read her book Don’t Be That Kid At School.  Each Rivers Edge teacher was given a copy of the book as well as the Teacher Resource Guide, funded through the Education Foundation grants for teachers. Weatherbee Mariners Celebrate Literacy Week 2018

Weatherbee Mariners bid adieu to Celebrate Literacy Week!, Florida 2018 with an old fashioned parade. On Friday afternoon, students and staff joined the magnificent cavalcade of favorite book characters and vocabulary words parading through our hallways.  It was the crowning glory of a week filled with classroom door decorating, buddy reading, Dropping Everything And Reading, creating personalized bookmarks, and more.  Thanks to Literacy Coach Heather Bolitho and the amazing Literacy Committee for promoting a love of literacy at Weatherbee.   .

Take steps to keep yourself and others healthy by following some everyday actions: Stay home when you are sick. If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way. Clean and disinfect surfaces or objects. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill.
