Mariner Teachers Make Deliveries

Recently, Kindergarten teachers Mrs. Guermithe Ogé and Mrs. Esther Jean delivered surprise packages to their students.  The children were so excited to receive a visit from their teachers and their teachers were delighted to see them – even if it was from a distance!    

Marine Service Gets on Board at the Boat Show

St. Lucie Public School Outboard Marine Service Program students attended the Boat Show in Stuart. Students met with employers from the local marine industry and visited boats docked at the show. Students heard about career opportunities in various areas of the marine industry as well as the increase in marine jobs in St. Lucie and Martin counties. It was a great day for the students. Big thanks to Robb Abbott at Oceanwide Electronics, Jill Marasa at Ashley Capital, and Justin Beard at Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast MIATC for planning this day for students.

Marine Marvels is Making Waves at Frances K Sweet

Marine Marvels at Weatherbee Elementary

We’re thrilled to announce that St. Lucie Public Schools has partnered with Inwater Research Group to launch Marine Marvels: Bilingual Adventures in Marine Science. This NEW program introduces 4th-grade to bilingual role models in marine science, helping them grow their awareness about marine conservation topics and expand their communication skills about scientific concepts in both English and Spanish. Marine Corps Pull-Up Challenge at TCHS

During lunch, students at Treasure Coast High School participated in the pull-up challenge hosted by Staff Sergeant Brandon Raines, a United States Marine Corps Recruiter. The pull-up challenge is used to help gain exposure to the Marine Corps, specifically all the scholarship and job opportunities that are available to students. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Marine and Oceanographic Academy Promotes Anti-bullying with Lakewood Park Elementary

On Friday, November 6th, seniors from the Marine and Oceanographic Academy traveled to Lakewood Park Elementary to put on an anti-bullying skit for the students. The skits, which were to created by the seniors, were meant to highlight different types of bullying that could take place in school and the resulting side effects.  In a day and age where bullying is becoming ever more prevalent, the seniors felt it was important to get the message out to the younger generation. Marching Cobras Earn Superiors at MPA

Fort Pierce Central High School Band Program earned Straight Superiors at the District 13 Marching Band Music Performance Assessment at Jensen Beach High School October 28th, 2023.  Mr. Joshua Daniels is the director of bands and the Marching Cobras. This year’s inaugural Marching Band Showcase was a spectacular event that highlighted the talents and skills of students and directors.  Fans crowded Lawnwood Stadium on Saturday evening (October 14) for an exciting evening of music as middle school and high school marching bands performed selections independently and (in a special performance) together under the direction of special guest conductor Dr. Kevin G. Marching Band Music Performance Assessment

Saturday, November 5th was a great day for the marching bands of SLPS as they performed in the District 13 Marching Band Music Performance Assessment (MPA)! The MPA is equal to FSA for classroom assessment. Band performances are assessed by critical experts in the field, and bands receive ratings in five categories by six judges. The highest two ratings are Superior (1) and Excellent (2). St. Lucie Public Schools’ Manufacturing and Engineering Program Advisory Board hosted a hybrid Career Day at Treasure Coast High School.  Colleen Gill from CareerSource Research Coast as well as Bill Wilcox and Brooks Price from Phoenix Metals spoke to students in person while Eric Linero from Jenoptik spoke to the students virtually via Microsoft Teams.
