Monthly Attendance Challenge at Bayshore Elementary

At Bayshore Elementary, we are excited to recognize and reward excellent attendance through our Monthly Attendance Challenge! Each month, the class with the highest attendance percentage earns the honor of displaying the Attendance Trophy on their classroom door. In addition to the trophy, the winning class also receives class-wide PBIS bucks, which can be used for special rewards and activities. This initiative encourages students to strive for perfect attendance and fosters a sense of teamwork and school spirit. Moment of Silence/Reflection

Port St. Lucie High School students take time during organized school-wide events such as the recent flag football game to reflect in remembrance of victims of violence.  Student leaders work with school administrators to plan school events and opportunities for students to voice thoughts, share ideas, and exercise positive civic responsibilities.

Mock Trial at Palm Pointe

Seventh grade students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition, along with The Honorable Judge Smartt of the St. Lucie County Court, held a mock trial for their Civics Class.  This was a great learning experience for everyone who participated. The students standing participated in the trial as the prosecutor, the defense, the witnesses, and the defendant along with their teacher Mrs. Anne Lulkin and Judge Smartt. The students seated made up the jury. Great job students.

MOA students amaze showcase guests on scientific results

MOA Senior Aneesa Dial Announced as Finalist in Florida’s Leader 4 Life Fellowship Program

In a surprise announcement, Aneesa Dial of Fort Pierce Westwood High School’s Marine and Oceanographic Academy (MOA), learned that she is one of 14 finalists for the Leaders 4 Life (L4L) Fellowship Program offered through the Take Stock in Children program at Indian River State College (IRSC). This is a prestigious statewide fellowship which is designed to provide highly motivated Take Stock in Children scholars who have demonstrated strong leadership skills, moral character, and academic success with the financial resources, services, and support needed to ensure student success throughout college. MLK parade enjoyed by thousands

The annual Martin Luther King, Jr., parade drew thousands on Monday, January 16, lining 25th Street and Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce. Annie Kate Jackson, pictured at left, and Jay Lundy were the emcees of the televised presentation of the parade which is airing on WLX The Education Channel. St. Lucie Public Schools proudly participated in the 33rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Parade.  This year’s theme “Renewing a Spirit of Empowerment, Engagement, and Non-violence” was reflected in schools’ parade entries which included float designs, band performances, cheer and dance presentations, and more.  This year’s commentators were the District’s own Dr. Donna Mills and Dr. Kevin Perry.

Mixing it up at Allapattah Flats K8

As Allapattah Flats middle school students wrapped up science fair, sixth grade moved into learning about magnetic forces.  The class has been using electric charges and magnetic charges within a lab setting for hands on learning.  Eighth grade has just finished studying various kinds of mixtures as well as matter and the energy cycle. Bailey McCall is pictured intently studying his work as he conducts an experiment on mixtures.

Missing School Means Missing Out Attendance Initiative

SLW Centennial High School recently implemented an attendance initiative to increase daily attendance. The theme was “Missing School = Missing Out.” Teachers and members of the attendance team greeted parents at the carline and thanked them for bringing their children to school on time. As a token of appreciation, parents received an attendance card with information on who to contact if their student’s absence needs to be excused in the future. Mirror Images of Symmetry at SLWK8

Students from Mrs. Schettini’s 3rd-grade math class identified lines of symmetry in various figures. One strategy they utilized was using a mirror to ensure that they were seeing “mirror images ” on the other side. It was a fun way to practice a new skill!
