Morningside Named National Finalist

Morningside Elementary was selected as the Florida Elementary School of the Year and National Elementary Finalist for the NEED project. The students pictured (Ben Prohaska, Paul Mukhamedov, Wyatt Taylor, Luke Prohaska, Sincere Robinson, Logan McDonald, Tyler McDonald, and Ryan Ayvaz, along with advisor/5th grade teacher, Mollie Mukhamedov) will represent Morningside Elementary at the 2019 NEED Youth Conference in Washington, D.C. this June.   To find out more about the NEED Project, click on the link below. Morningside Million Father March

The cafeteria filled as fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other male caregivers joined in support of their students at Morningside Elementary on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Our guests enjoyed donuts and the speakers included volunteer, Myron Varn, volunteer coordinator Heather Ritter, and administrators, Cortina Bell-Gray and Cynthia Roach.      

Morningside Library Splashes Into Summer This June

PORT ST. Morningside Kicks-Off “Girls on the Run”

Morningside Elementary kicked off the first day of GIRLS ON THE RUN this week!The girls and Coach Black, Coach Matos, & Coach Panaccione had an amazing time of running, team-building, and making connections! Girls will also learn skills including self-motivation, self-awareness, and self-confidence. Girls will learn about empowerment and build rich connections with others. We are excited for an incredible GOTR season this year! Way to go Blue Jays!

Morningside is Building a Community by Honoring the Past

To end their unit on Historical Resources and Timelines, students in Mrs. McKenna’s class completed their very first home project! Students got creative while making a timeline based on each year of their life, using primary sources. Each student presented their timeline to the class, and they LVED learning more about their classmates and friends! #MSEshinesBRIGHT

Morningside Illuminates Learning

Mrs. Moore’s fourth grade AMP students at Morningside Elementary School really know how to make their work glow. Today students used highlighters and black lights to illuminate their models of decimal multiplication. Earlier this week, they used unique math manipulatives (Cheerios, pretzels and crackers) to model repeated addition of decimals. Morningside Honors Veterans

Morningside Elementary school students and teachers honored Veteran families by holding an assembly.  Students from all grades greeted the Veteran guests as they entered the school building and the students in the Gifted Program created skits, read poems and sang songs to honor the individuals who have served or are currently serving in the Armed forces.  Veteran guests appreciated the recognition and enjoyed the assembly.

Morningside has struck Gold (AGAIN!)

The 2023-2024 Everglades School Champion Awards were announced. Morningside Elementary soared into Gold status for the second year in a row. Morningside has earned this award by integrating Everglades literacy into their curriculum in all K-5 classrooms, providing a strong connection in their community, and integrating Everglades advocacy into their culture. Not only did they receive GOLD championship status, but they also received the prestigious, George and Mary Barley Everglades award for going above and beyond throughout the school year. We are so proud of our bluejays for leading the way in St. Lucie County.

Morningside grandparents are center stage!

Morningside Elementary celebrated Grandparents’ Day a little early.  The grandparents were invited to join their students for lunch on the stage, in front of the stage, and throughout the cafe to celebrate the importance of family supporting education and their students!

Morningside Ends the Year With Smiles

Morningside Encourages Students to “Bring Their a Game” on State Testing Days

Morningside students brought their “A” game as we continued state testing. Teachers and staff wrote encouraging messages on home plates for our students to read on their way into school. Then, they lined the halls to cheer them on and get them excited about doing their best. We are so proud of our Blue Jays and all their hard work! They brought their “A game” and knocked it out of the park! ⚾️

Morningside Elementary’s Thanksgiving Day Literacy Parade!

Students in the third-grade enrichment MTSS class created their own Thanksgiving Day Parade. Students researched and wrote scripts, created their costumes, and brought in props. Then, students used a green screen to create their own version of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Morningside Elementary’s Odyssey of the Mind Team Takes First in State and Is Headed to World…

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – St. Lucie Public Schools is proud to announce that Morningside Elementary’s (MSE) Odyssey of the Mind Team won first place at the state competition and is advancing to the World Finals competition slated for May 21 – May 26 in Lansing, Michigan. Morningside Elementary’s Exciting Field Day

Field Day at Morningside Elementary was another huge success, filled with excitement and teamwork. Students rotated through 13 different stations, enjoying a variety of activities such as water games, inflatable obstacle courses, and a lively home run derby. This fun-filled day allowed students to showcase the skills they learned in P.E. class while engaging in friendly competition. The highlight of the fifth graders’ Field Day was an epic tug-of-war battle between classes, which culminated in a thrilling showdown. Morningside Elementary Title I Superhero Literacy Night

The Morningside Elementary Title I Superhero Literacy Night was a huge success! Students and families were encouraged to wear superhero costumes or shirts when they attended the fun-filled event. Families rotated through superhero stations that featured reading skills while integrating science, math, and writing.  The attendees also were treated to delicious pizza from Little Caesars and all students received a superhero-themed prize at the end of the event! 

Morningside Elementary team wins regional Odyssey of the Mind contest

Morningside Elementary’s Odyssey of the Mind Angels team won first place and an “Omer Award” for notable team work at the recent regional Odyssey of the Mind competition.  Teammates, front row, from left, Macy Nielander, Rylee Nelson, Tiffani Kinnaman, Lexus Hommer, Grace Kukielka, Jory Krier, Kendrick Carpenter, along with coaches, back row,  Tania Nelson and Brad Culbertson are now preparing for the state competition next month.
