Mosaic Digital Academy families enjoy get together

What great fun was had by students, teachers and parents of Mosaic Digital Academy at its first Fall Meet-Up! Mosaic Digital Academy’s K-6 virtual students, parents, siblings, teachers, and staff met for an afternoon treat at Tutti Fruiti and then enjoyed a little frisbee and kite flying with other students in the virtual school program. Parents had a nice opportunity to connect with other “Learning Coaches”, too! A repeat performance is expected soon.

Mosaic Digital Academy Explore St. Lucie County Aquarium and Historical Museum

Mosaic Digital Academy students in grades k-5 explored living models of Florida marine and estuarine ecosystems while learning about the importance and intricacies of each including coral reefs, seagrass, mangrove, lagoon hardbottom, and nearshore reef habitats at the St. Lucie County Aquarium. Students were also afforded the opportunity to get a glimpse at the foundation of our community, from our earliest known residents, the Ais Indians to the Creek and later the Seminoles. Students also traced the rise of the fishing industry and the failed efforts at making us the “Pineapple Capital of the World”.

Mosaic Digital Academy Elementary Students Thrive on Live Day

Mosaic Digital Academy K-5 students thrived during their first “Live Day” of the year. Live Days consist of student-centered, hands-on learning opportunities that are in-person, giving students valuable opportunities to explore Math, ELA, and Science alongside their peers. Students in Mrs. Mimnaugh’s math classes engaged in standards-based problem-solving activities using Hands 2 Mind math manipulatives. Working collaboratively, students demonstrated productive struggle as they took ownership of grappling with math problems to find a solution. Mosaic Digital Academy Elementary Students Get Wild at the Oxbow Eco-center

Mosaic Digital Academy students in grades K-5 met St. Lucie’s backyard wildlife during a fun and interactive journey through the Oxbow Eco-center Preserve. Students compared local native, exotic, and invasive plants and animals, learning how they interact within our Florida ecosystems. By collecting data through hands-on exploration, students determined the status of the Oxbow Preserve’s flora and fauna as friend or foe. Solution oriented discussions gave students an opportunity to think deeply about how they can protect this fragile ecosystem they call home for the future.

Mosaic Digital Academy Elementary Students Get Friendly with Manatees

Mosaic Digital Academy students in grades K-5 learned all about manatees at the Manatee Observation and Education Center in Fort Pierce. The outdoor classroom provided students with an in-depth look into the lives of these marine mammals, an important part of Florida’s diverse aquatic ecosystems. Hands-on exploration of the tide pool touch tank gave students the opportunity to come face to face with sea urchins, sea cucumbers, hermit crabs, and more! Mosaic Digital Academy Academic A-Team Takes 2nd Place

Congratulations to the Mosaic Academic A-Team with Jaden, Mia, Zachariah, Logan, and Naomi-Grace and their A-Team Coach, Ms. Gibert! Mosaic Owls competed at the IRSC Brain Bowl on October 20th and competed against other High Schools in the district. We are super proud that they brought home 2nd place overall! Mosaic Digital Academy 5th Graders Rock Saturday with a Scientist

5th graders throughout St. Lucie County took a deep dive into science during “Saturday with a Scientist”. Five students from Mosaic Digital Academy were chosen to experience this unique opportunity hosted by IRSC at the Pruitt Campus. Topics explored were Geology, Ocean Acidification, and DNA extraction. During the Geology components, students compared features of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks and were able to identify meteors based on their magnetic qualities. Students conducted an experiment mimicking Ocean Acidification to examine the effects of how carbon dioxide impacts ocean pH levels having a negative impact on marine life. Josiah Begeansma, a 5th-grade student at Mosaic Digital Academy, is making waves with his commitment to water conservation! Josiah was named the 2026 Drop Savers Poster Contest winner for his grade level—an annual competition hosted by St. Lucie County in partnership with the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA). This year’s contest invited students from all grade levels to create posters promoting water conservation. With over 175 entries submitted from 9 schools, one winner was selected per grade level—and Josiah’s artwork stood out! Mosaic Digital Academy 1st Grader Takes 3rd Place in 10th Annual Art Contest Sponsored by K12 Inc.

Our own Jayden is a 6-year-old 1st grader at Mosaic Digital Academy who took 3rd place in K12, inc’s 10th Annual Art Contest. Jayden’s art project, “Journey to the Moon,” was created with paper, cardboard, glue, glitter, paint, stickers, number stencils, cut outs and tissue paper. Jayden enjoyed splattering paint all over the cardboard to create the stars…it was messy, fun and effective. Jayden has taken a recent interest in the moon and stars, leading us to explore the decade of the 1960’s when the first trip to the moon was made. Morningside’s PBIS Decade Day was a Success.

Students, teachers, and staff enjoyed our monthly PBIS event at Morningside Elementary. This month, everyone dressed up in clothing from their chosen decade to celebrate having awesome behavior! Morningside Elementary is a PBIS GOLD model school. The hard-working PBIS team really know how to put FUN and one-of-a-kind experiences in our school year. Way to represent Bluejays!

Morningside’s Odyssey

Morningside Elementary hosted a dessert theater and silent auction fundraiser to support their school teams’ trip to the State Finals for Odyssey of the Mind.  Morningside was honored with Omer’s award for great teamwork at the Regional Competition held earlier in the year. Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from K to 12th grades. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. Morningside’s Morning Service

On Sunday, November 7th, the Port St. Lucie Jaguar Battalion presented the Colors to honor all the Veterans during Morningside Church’s morning service. Commanding the Color Guard was National Flag Bearer Cadet Major Mery Fuentes accompanied by Cadet Major Elena Garcia as the State Flag Bearer, Cadet Captain Kristian St.Vil as a right guard, and Cadet Major Christopher Penate as the left guard.

Morningside Teams Shine at OM State Competition

Morningside Elementary recently showcased their talents by sending three teams to the Odyssey of the Mind State Competition, demonstrating remarkable creativity and teamwork. The primary team performed admirably, gaining valuable experience throughout the event. Meanwhile, the problem 1 team displayed incredible perseverance, overcoming challenges with their vehicle and securing a spot in the top 10 in the state. Morningside Teams Shine at Odyssey Competition

Morningside Elementary competed in the Odyssey of the Mind Regional Tournament. Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem solving competition where teams present a long-term problem they have worked on all year and solve a spontaneous problem during the tournament. The 4 Morningside teams each placed in the top 5 of their division with 3 of the teams advancing to the state competition. Morningside Takes on City Hall

Last week, Morningside’s Student Council visited the Port St. Lucie City Hall. They learned about several important jobs that keep our city safe and beautiful. They were excited to have conversations with people from traffic operations, trash pick-up and recycling, and District 1 Councilwoman Stephanie Morgan. They even saw a K9 demonstration from PSL Officers Gibbins and Miller. #FutureLeadersofPSL

Morningside Students Shop at Publix Math Night

Students and families from Morningside Elementary recently enjoyed an exciting Math Night event at Publix, where they had the opportunity to put their math skills to the test. Armed with shopping lists, participants navigated the aisles of the store, calculating prices and totals as they selected various items. This engaging experience not only reinforced essential math concepts but also fostered a sense of community among families and staff.
