Mariposa Elementary Celebrated Empowerment

Mariposa Elementary celebrated “Empowerment” which is a Social and Emotional Learning theme. LPA MS Students are Committed to Graduate

On Friday, September 27, 2019, Lincoln Park Academy Middle School students participated in the annual Commitment to Graduate “C2G” ceremony. This ceremony reminds students of the caring adults who support them and why they are in school, which is to graduate! After the students shook Mr. Sanabria’s hand, signed a graduate silhouette, and received a keepsake to commemorate the celebration.   This is their declaration that they are their commitment to graduate from high school. Their commitment silhouette will be proudly displayed on campus.  Great job, Greyhounds!

LPA Middle School Officers Elected

Lincoln Park Academy elected new middle school officers on Friday, September 27th. Candidates campaigned throughout the week, garnering votes for the election. Middle school students voted in their social studies classroom after listening to candidates speeches during the morning announcements. TCHS Boys Bowling Scores!

The TCHS Boys Bowling Team placed 6th out of 15 teams at the Kegel Bowling Center Tournament! The Kegel Training Center offers bowling training and is where many Bowling pros offer their expertise to young, aspiring bowlers.  TCHS had the highest score for the St Lucie District!  

Weatherbee Mariners Catch The Wave To Empowerment In September!

Weatherbee staff and students wore yellow and caught the wave to empowerment on Friday, September 27th. Each class designed a surfboard illustrating ways they feel empowered or can empower others. Weatherbee’s motto this year is “Catch the Wave to Success” and the surfboards tie into that theme.

Amazing Annual Retreat at Southport Middle School!

Sixth grade students enjoyed an engaging, positive, and busy time at Southport’s annual Student Retreat. This year the Marlins and the Bobcats each had their own day for students to participate. There were activities and games throughout each day, as well as small group discussions where students learned about each other’s likes and dislikes. The day began in the gym and students were later split into small groups with adult team leaders to take part in various team building activities. TCHS Student makes National Merit Scholarship Semifinals!

Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced Treasure Coast Senior Ryan Lu as a Semifinalist in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. As a talented High School Senior, Ryan has an opportunity to continue in the competition for a National Merit Scholarship. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Ryan must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of competition. Car Wash 9/28/19

Saturday, September 28, 2019, the Port Saint Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their first car wash of the year. Approximately 30 cadets from the program volunteered to wash cars from 8A.M. to 12P.M. Money raised at the carwash went towards the Raider team and miscellaneous JROTC activities/events. This was a fun event that brought the cadets out to the community and helped to teach the cadets the value of teamwork and communication. Overall the event had a great turnout and was full of positive energy throughout the day.

Installation Art Made it’s Mark this Month at Palm Pointe Educational Research School

The middle school art program, under the instruction of Mrs. Susan Wessel, studied the work of Mark Jenkins, who is an installation artist from Washington D.C.  Students created sculptural pieces resembling Jenkin’s work.  Artists used packaging tape to construct the life size sculptures.  They planned their sculpture’s location and purpose throughout the campus including the buddy bench, school library, common areas, and school garden.  The Palm Pointe artists’ objective was to make their fellow students stop, look and think about the art they see.  It is so exciting to see the impact the sculptures are having around campus.  Artists definitely … Read More

Palm Pointe Celebrates September’s SEL Empowerment Day

Fairlawn’s Bahamian Fundraiser

Fairlawn Elementary students represented the Bahamas by wearing either the colors of the flag (gold, black, and aqua) or the actual flag itself.  The students were thrilled to continue the support for Hurricane Dorian relief.  All together the students raised over $670 dollars.

Fort Pierce Central’s Allied Health (CTE) Connects Students to IRSC

Fort Pierce Central’s Allied Health students participated in a guest speaker presentation by Indian River State College (IRSC) arranged by Ms. Barbera Charles.  IRSC representatives discussed multiple career options in healthcare, along with criteria for enrollment.  Students gained meaningful knowledge for continuing opportunities beyond high school.

Sunshine Kitchen Scholarship Cook-Off Winners!

Pictured is the winning team for the Sunshine Kitchen Scholarship Cook Off. Congratulations to Evelyn Miranda from Treasure Coast High School and Jorge Carrillo from Indian River State College. Their winning creation was a delicious lemon honey mustard buer blanc chicken with sautéed vegetables. Congratulations!

Forest Grove Eighth Graders Take a Bite Out of the Periodic Table

In Mrs. Clarke’s eighth grade Earth and Space Science class, students apply knowledge they have acquired about atomic theory to create models of atoms using marshmallows and toothpicks! Students had to select an element of their choice form the periodic table, identify and calculate the amount of subatomic particles, select specific colors of marshmallows for each particle and create the atomic nucleus with orbiting electrons likened to the Bohr model. The best part of course was in the end when they got to enjoy them as a tasty treat!

Career and College Fair Color Guard

On September 11, 2019, the Port Saint Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted a color guard for the Career and College Fair held in the gym. The color guard was commanded by Cadet Major Alexis Morris while the state flag was held by Cadet Sargent First Class Alexis Wilson. Guarding the national flag was Cadet Sargent First Class Emmalyne Lewiston and guarding the state flag was Cadet Second Lieutenant Michael Schmitt.
