Palm Pointe Kindergarten Celebrates Harvest Festival and Friendship Feast

All year long, Kindergarten Rockets have been tending their garden of fresh herbs, vegetables, and greens.  Students were excited to harvest some of their produce to create fresh, homemade salsa using cilantro and green peppers from the gardens.  To quench their thirst, they also made a lemonade that they incorporated fresh mint into. Students Participate in Judge Maynard’s Teen Discourse Session at Federal Courthouse

Students from Fort Pierce Central, Fort Pierce Westwood Academy, Performance Based Preparatory Academy, St. Lucie West Centennial and Treasure Coast High Schools attended a Teen Discourse Session.  This event included students from the Criminal Justice programs where participants heard from multiple professionals working directly in the industry.  Federal Judge Maynard, and Assistant Federal Public Defender Panayotta Augustin-Birch were the organizers for this event held at the Federal Courthouse in Fort Pierce.

Northport Celebrates November Navigator of the Month

Northport is so proud to announce our November Navigator of the Month award recipients. The students selected have exhibited all the qualities that our teachers and staff are looking for in a fine student. Integrity, commitment, honor, being a great friend, stopping a bully or understanding and role modeling the word service. We are so proud to celebrate, along with our parents and grandparents and to make sure that our students know what it means to be a great Northport kid! Good job everyone!

Northport Students Build Water Turbines!

Sixth grade students in Mr. Fess’ Northstars STEM class designed and built water turbines as part of their unit on Hydropower. These students are studying various types of alternative energy sources in this course while also learning about the Engineering, Science and Math necessary to harness the energy.

Northport Selects Stellar Volunteer of the Year!

Northport is thrilled to present Cindi Cairo as our Adult Volunteer of the Year for 2019-2020. Cindi has volunteered at Northport for the last three years. She has assisted in the kindergarten and in third-grade. One of the jobs that Cindi helps with at Northport is assisting in small group centers for math. She is innovative in her modeling methods for math. She makes up new games to help children learn multiplication tables. Mariposa’s Second Graders Investigates Matter

At Mariposa Elementary, second grade students conducted science investigations in groups to classify the different kinds of materials by their physical properties by making root beer floats. Students observed and explained how the three states of matter went through a chemical change. When the (liquid) root beer was poured on the (solid) ice cream, it foamed up into a (gas) or bubbles. Students engaged in discussions with their teams explaining their observations using science vocabulary. This hands-on science investigation culminated the unit on Matter. IB Students at LPA Giving Back to Furry Friends

A small representation of the IB program at LPA went to the Dogs and Cats Forever animal shelter to deliver a check from funds raised last year by the IB Program. The IB Program wanted to support and be a part of the great work that this no kill shelter does in our community. While in the shelter, our students had the opportunity to visit the facility, learn about volunteering options, and of course, play with the fur babies. Buddy Bench Awarded to Southport Middle School for Recycling to Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful

To mark America Recycles Day, the City of Port St. Lucie awarded Southport with a “Buddy Bench” made from the plastic caps that students have been collecting and sending in to recycle. Palm Pointe Artists win the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Art Contest. Congratulations to Elementary School Division First Place Winner: Naima Guerrier – grade 5, and Middle School Division First Place Winner: Miyanna Morgan – grade 8. Students from St. Lucie County and Palm Beach County were asked to complete an artwork using “football and health” as the theme. Northport Salutes Veterans Day!

What an absolutely wonderful morning of patriotism and pride at Northport today. Many local veterans came into school to take part in a Veteran’s Panel for students. Mrs. Kemp’s third graders led the program with the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Renelus and his band played the National Anthem and a rousing rendition of a medley of the songs for each branch of the military. Students in Susan Smith’s class read a poem called “The Veteran’s Blessing.” The veterans spoke eloquently about the importance of teamwork, support, brotherhood, education and most importantly, honor and integrity. Westwood’s Agriscience Virtual Field Trip

Fort Pierce Westwood Academy, W.E.S.T. Prep’s Agriscience program hosted a virtual field trip for Samuel S. Gaines Academy, Forest Grove Middle and Allapattah Flats K8 schools. Students explored the Agriscience career pathway with out leaving their classroom.

Southport Middle School Keeping Port St. Lucie Beautiful

We are excited to announce Southport Middle School’s Adopt-A-Street Club!  The club that makes a difference in the community, one piece of trash at a time. The club meets once a month to clean up litter along the streets directly outside of the school and the City of Port St. Lucie has rewarded our efforts by placing signage on Morningside Boulevard. LPA’s Sandy Gomez Wins the BCBS of FL Cheribundi Boca Bowl Art Contest

The annual Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl played at FAU stadium in Boca Raton hosts a fantastic art contest in partnership with Palm Beach and St. Lucie Public Schools.  Lincoln Park Academy Junior, Sandy Gamez, had her art work selected as best in the district at the high school level.  The competition asked students to depict the connection between “health and football” in a small work of art.  Mr. McGraw explained, “Ms. Gamez considered different contexts of football and health issues while composing her work and chose to render her picture in black and white … Read More

TCHS AFJROTC Participates in Multiple Events on Veterans Day Weekend

Treasure Coast High School, AFJROTC Unit FL-20081 conducted several events in celebration and remembrance of our fallen military members on Veterans Day. With two Color Guards being performed consecutively in addition to the Veterans Day Ceremony held at Veteran Memorial Park, many cadets dedicated their time to honoring veterans. Furthermore, all events were attended by a plethora of veterans from every military branch, with every cadet earnestly learning about the unique experiences each veteran had to tell.
