PSLHS’s Army JROTC Cadets Hold Car Wash Fundraiser!

On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion cadets participated in a car wash held at O’Rielly’s Auto Parts. Cadets put together and took part in this fundraiser to support our award-winning Raider Team. Cadets spent four hours cleaning vehicles and building esprit de corps. Donations were given because of hard work and dedication to our Jaguar Battalion. Cadet Sergeant Shane Canady was the main coordinator in charge of this annual proceeding. 

PSLHS Wins AREA 3 Regional Drill Competition

On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Port St Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Drill Team competed in its AREA 3 Regional Drill Meet at Jupiter High School. This is the most important drill meet of the season because it determines if the team can advance to the state competition. Cadets participated in fourteen group events, and we are so proud to say the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion won 1st place overall and will be moving forward to compete at the state level on April 13th! PSLHS Theatre Students Help Morningside Students Pack the House!

Mr. Madden and his theatre students worked so hard this semester with Morningside Elementary students to prepare for their musical theater showcase. The house was packed and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the talent! The Port St. Lucie High School students were well prepared and handled themselves like professionals as they hosted the show. It’s exciting to see the next generation of talent on the rise. #futurejaguars

PSLHS Tech Design Visits A-1 Apprenticeship

Port St. Lucie High School’s Technical Design students virtually visited A-1 Truss to hear how their high school class is connected to A-1’s apprenticeship. Dawn Riccardi at CareerSource Research Coast, Jeremy Tichenor, and Jason at A-1 Truss presented and answered questions from the high school students.

PSLHS Students Earn CNA Licenses

Congratulations to the new Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who earned their certification from the Florida Department of Nursing this week at Port St. Lucie High School.  90% of students in Mrs. Cebelak’s CNA program are now able to begin their career path as CNAs and support our community!  

PSLHS Student, Joseph Locklar, Promoted to Eagle Scout

PSLHS’s Battalion Honor Guard Sergeant Major Locklar was recently promoted to an Eagle Scout with his Boy Scout Troop 499. Becoming an Eagle Scout is a major accomplishment that is recognized by the military.  Joseph can enter any branch of the military he desires as an Private First Class, which is two ranks higher then everyone else. He is actively involved with JROTC, Scouts of America, and his local church/ youth group. His ceremony will be held this November. PSLHS Service Learning: Flag Retirement Ceremony

On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion participated in its annual Service Learning Project of retiring unserviceable American flags. Cadets collected worn, torn, and frayed flags donated from various public places to be properly retired. In the class periods leading to the event, cadets cut the flags by the stripes to prepare them for the ceremony. A remarkable 250 senior students from Port St. Lucie High School recently embarked on an enriching field trip to Indian River State College (IRSC), immersing themselves in the vibrant campus environment. This hands-on experience provided invaluable insights into college life, allowing students to explore the campus facilities and envision their potential future as college students. PSLHS Raider Meet

The Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC hosted the Annual PSL Raider challenge on Saturday, October 9th. Ten schools throughout St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee, and Palm Beach counties competed. The Raider competition consisted of six events: a 2.5 mile run, 1 mile litter carry, HUMVEE push, fitness test with carrying sandbags, constructing and crossing a rope bridge, and tire flip. The Jaguar Battalion male and female teams placed 1st overall. Congrats to a job well done as they compete next week at South Fork High School.

On Saturday, November 7th, 2020, the JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Raider Team hosted a Raider competition at Port Saint Lucie High School. Our mixed team, male team, and female team competed in each of five events: Relay Race, Fitness Challenge, Rope Bridge, Tire Flip, and a mile of Cross-Country Rescue. Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion hosted a Raider competition at Port St. Lucie High School. Volunteer cadets for each company assisted in running the competition’s five events.  The cadets performed tasks such as running scores back to H22 (the JROTC classroom), working the concession stand, and making sure tents posted around the school had water for anyone who needed it. PSLHS Outstanding Cadet Board

On Wednesday, October 6th, chosen cadets of the Port Saint Lucie Jaguar Battalion participated in the Outstanding Cadet Board (OCB). Two cadets from each company, a Let 1 and a Let 2/3, competed against each other on the OCB. They are also awarded points for proficiency on what they have learned in the program. Although every individual may not qualify for the outstanding cadet, all participants are awarded and recognized for their participation. Port St. Lucie High School’s Nursing Assistant students were recognized for their success in earning their industry certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. During the recognition ceremony, current educator Jacklyn Cebelak honored the students with a Tiki celebration.

PSLHS NHS Color Guard

On Thursday, October 20th, 2022, the PSLHS Jaguar Battalion presented the colors at the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. Commanding the Color Guard was National Flag Bearer Cadet Major Eric Smith accompanied by Cadet Sergeant Jayda Whiteman as State Flag Bearer, Cadet Corporal Ryan Lewis as right Guard, and Cadet First Sergeant Jeremiah Davis as left Guard.

PSLHS Marching Jaguar Band at 33rd Annual Crown Jewel

The PSLHS Marching Jaguar Band, under the direction of Band Director Mr. John McGallagher,  recently competed in the 33rd Annual Crown Jewel Marching Festival in Vero Beach.  They marched away with the following trophies in the Bronze Division:  Best in Class Overall, Best in Class General Effect, Best in Class Music, Best in Class Marching, Best in Class Auxiliary, Superior Drum Major, and  Outstanding Participation,  After competing in Finals, they also took 2nd runner up in the Ruby Division. PSLHS JROTC Visits Navy Seal Museum

On September 6th, 2023, the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion staff toured the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum located in Fort Pierce where all cadets took part in a multi-staged obstacle course and rappelled off a 40ft platform. Lastly, all cadets toured the inside of the museum to view the exhibit of the Cold War and World War II gallery where cadets saw real replicas of the equipment used in action on the battlefield. Overall, this experience was a great success.
