Two St. Lucie County Teachers Selected to Attend Geology Camp

5th grade teacher at Mosaic Digital Academy, Marsha Mimnaugh, and Earth Space Science & AP Environmental instructor at Port St. Lucie High, Michael Mimnaugh, have been selected from a pool of nationwide applicants to attend “G-Camp” this summer through Texas A&M’s Geology and Geophysics department. G-Camp is a 14-day field camp for 5th – 12th grade science teachers that provides first-hand experience with the principles of Geology in the field. LPA National Junior Honor Society Students Show Teacher Appreciation

National Junior Honor Society students came together to deliver coffee and a sweet treat to teachers to show their appreciation for all that they do. Their hard work and dedication are a direct result of the leadership that they have fallen under from teachers. They showed compassion and kindness as they worked tirelessly to serve the staff. LPA’s Senior Mia Morrison Wins Again

We are so excited to share that LPA’s own, Mia Morrison, was selected as the 2023 Saint Lucie County Youth of the Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of Saint Lucie County and the 2023 Florida State Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs for the second year in a row!  Mia is the first youth to garner these distinguished wins in succession.  Congratulations on doing a stellar job!

This year the St. Lucie Education Foundation provided teachers at St. Lucie Elementary with something special to celebrate and show them how much we appreciate them. 110 teachers who work tirelessly to educate our students each day, received reusable shopping bags and pens from the Education Foundation. The Education Foundation wants to thank the teachers for making a difference in the lives of their students and for having a positive impact on their learning process!

SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC Participates in Do-You-Give-A-Ruck “Battle of the Branches” Obstacle Course Event

  The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company participated in the Do-You-Give-A-Ruck “Battle of the Branches” Veteran’s Benefit Obstacle Course on Saturday, April 29th, 2023. The event benefits veterans by donating non-perishable food items as well as provide housing for homeless veterans in the area. There were four “Black Talon” teams that participated. SOMS Math Boot Camp

Southern Oaks Middle School Math Boot Camp was a success! We had 72 students attend on Saturday, April 29th. Our SOMS’s math experts provided our students with short and focused math workshops to help our students improve their F.A.S.T. math skills. In addition, our students enjoyed grilled hotdogs, compliments of administration, to end the day with a celebration of their efforts and success on the upcoming state assessments. FPC, NHS, & Earth Day!

FPC’s National Honor Society Honors Earth Day! The natural treasure of St. Lucie County, the Oxbow Eco Center proudly celebrated Earth Day 2023. With volunteers from all corners of the county, including Fort Pierce Central High School’s National Honor Society members, the event was a true tribute to caring for our corner of the globe. From set up to clean-up, volunteers took the time to do more than was asked by doing what was needed. Beyond giving back, NHS sets the example for our community to join in and do their part to keep St. Lucie County beautiful.

SLW Centennial Navy JROTC Performs Honor Guard for Senator Scott

FPWA Students Celebrate Agriculture Week

FFA members organized a spirit week filled with fun and festivities! Students sold ice cream treats during lunches to highlight the Florida Dairy Industry. FFA members also decked themselves out in blue & yellow to show their love for their club! They participated in “Ag-Olympics” to end the celebratory week!  

Manatee Academy K-8 Taylor’s Teddy Bear Drive

Students and staff at Manatee Academy hosted a Taylor’s Teddy Bear Drive. The students collected 1,733 Teddy Bears that were dispersed to our local agencies: St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department, St. Lucie County Fire District, Port St. Lucie Police Department, and Fort Pierce Police Department. Taylor’s Teddy Bear, Inc. is a non-profit organization started by Taylor’s mother, Megan Bishop. Taylor was a 4-year-old boy who passed away two years ago near North Perry Airport during an airplane accident. LPA Chorus Wraps up the Year with another “SUPERIOR” Rated Concert Season!

On April 25th, the Lincoln Park Academy Chorus participated in the Florida Vocal Association’s South State Choral Music Performance Assessments in North Palm Beach. The Women’s Chorale and the Women’s Advanced Choir, “Belle Voix” both received “SUPERIOR” ratings for their outstanding performances.  These performances concluded the FVA concert season and once again, the LPA Choral Department had a perfect “Superior” rated season with all of their performing ensembles. Pink, Poised, and Legally Blonde

For its spring performance, Fort Pierce Central High School drama department proudly presented Harvard bound Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the Musical. Ms. Browning and her students make theater more than a class, performing arts credit, or scheduled elective. Students learn all aspects of stage performance, technical, and backstage craft. The Arts draw students into new opportunities to build skills and interests while revealing personal talents. The Arts have a place for everyone. FPC is proud to have talented artists on every stage, at every level pursuing their performance dreams. Backstage the fun was perfectly balanced with poise and purpose!

FPWA JROTC Win “Battle of the Branches” Run

Cadets from the Westwood Army JROTC Raider Team travelled to the Florida Tech Challenge Course in Fellsmere, to compete in the annual “Battle of the Branches” Obstacle Course Run, which pits teams from all branches of the military against each other to see who can finish the 3.1 Mile/18-Obstacle Challenge Course the fastest. This year, the Westwood Team had the honor of winning the award for the Fastest JROTC Team. SOMS Rock the Test!

Southern Oaks Middle School faculty and staff kicked off with a “Rock the Test” celebration to encourage our students as they begin the testing season. The SOMS family wore rock attire, wrote inspiring messages for our students located at the entrance of each building, and cheered our students throughout the entire day. We also had our SOMS band play the “HAWK chant” as students entered campus. It is a great day to be a HAWK! HAWKS SOAR!

Port St. Lucie High School Jaguars Help Clean the Beaches!

On Saturday, April 22nd, students from the Port St. Lucie High School student government hosted a beach cleanup day, while inviting students from throughout campus to participate. Clean beaches and fun in the sun were had by all. This event was made possible by Mr. Austin, Mrs. Duenas, and Mrs. Martin.
