SLW Centennial High School celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week with the theme “FIRST CLASS TRAVEL FOR OUR FIRST-CLASS STAFF.” This special week was dedicated to honoring our incredible teachers for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. Throughout the week, teachers were treated to themed breakfasts and lunches from various locations around the world, including Mexico, Ireland, Italy, Asia, and ending with the United States. SLW Centennial High School recently hosted its annual Senior Awards Night. This memorable event celebrated the achievements of our outstanding seniors. SLW Centennial High School students and staff came together to celebrate a vibrant and memorable Homecoming Week from September 22 through September 27. The week was packed with themed dress-up days that brought creativity and fun to campus, including Tropical Day, Heroes vs. Villains, Throwback to a Decade, Soccer Mom vs. Barbeque Dad, and Spirit Day. The SLW Centennial annual JV and Varsity Soccer Boys Banquet was held at Duffy’s Superplay to celebrate the end of an exciting soccer season. On a recent visit to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and Florida International University (FIU), basketball players from SLW Centennial had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Division 1 (D1) basketball. In a powerful tribute to Mental Health Awareness Month, SLW Centennial art students created a striking display of ceramic figures that reflect the complexities of mental health. Each student crafted a unique sculpture representing their interpretation of a person living with a mental health condition, including bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use disorder, and more. SLW Centennial AICE Marine Students Explore the Indian River Lagoon

Ms. Willems’ AICE Marine Science students participated in “A Day in the Life of the Indian River Lagoon,” an annual citizen science project where environmental partners, students, and teachers collaborate to simultaneously collect scientific data at sites along the 156 mile stretch of the lagoon. A great learning opportunity for the students.

On Friday, May 15th, secondary music students in St. Lucie Public Schools and their teachers played “Lean on Me” in their yards to honor all those who have sacrificed so much during this Covid-19 pandemic. It was a touching tribute and a wonderful way to connect virtually with one another! Great job everyone!    

SLPS Wears Blue for Autism Acceptance and Awareness Month

The Speech-Language Pathologists showed their support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders by wearing blue for Autism Acceptance and Awareness Month. 1 in 36 children are diagnosed with ASD according to a 2020 report by the CDC.  Speech-language pathologists work with students with Autism to help improve their pragmatic language and functional communication skills.
