Port St. Lucie High Geometry Students Play Capture the Flag to Prepare for Unit Assessment

Mrs. Phillips’ Geometry students are preparing for their Unit 1 Assessment with a Capture the Flag game! Groups started with 5 different colored flags and worked to solve problems within their groups. Students had their answers checked and when correct, they could steal another team’s flag. In the end, students were surprised to find each flag had a different value and those with a lot of blue or orange flags lost points! Fun & learning were had by all!  

TCHS First FBLA Meeting of the School Year

The Treasure Coast High School FBLA team hosted an informal meeting for new and returning members. During this meeting, students were able to meet the new officer team and receive information about future volunteer opportunities and upcoming workshops. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Manatee Academy Celebrates Grandparents’ Day!

Manatee Academy’s Grandparents had an opportunity to visit with their grandchildren in celebration of Grandparents Day. They enjoyed visiting the classrooms, completing crafts, and reading to students. They completed their visit with a tasty treat. Thank you to all the families that made this day special for students!

TCHS JROTC Honors Military

Art Zines & Artist Talk at FPC

  A Zine a Day Fort Pierce Central High School Visual Art teacher Ms. Emily Royo hosted a recent artist talk with Florida Designer Naomi Taher and her drawing students. Aligned with Florida’s Sunshine State Standards, Ms. Royo infuses relevant context, and contemporary practices, and introduces local artists. Taher and Royo are FAU alumni and former classmates. Currently a Senior Graphic Designer at FAU, Taher frequently works with Zines, 2D collages that combine text and imagery layered on folded papers. Fairlawn Welcomes Grandparents

On Friday, September 8th, grandparents and families were welcomed to Fairlawn to celebrate Grandparent’s Day! Students were able to eat lunch with their grandparents and thank them for all they do! The Patriots value our school and home families! 

Titans Varsity Football Remains Undefeated

The Treasure Coast High School varsity football team defeated the Noles 14-9 during Friday night’s nail-biter. The Titans remain undefeated as they head into next week’s game at Martin County High School. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Parkway Pirates Rockin’ with Andy!

Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse visited the Kindergarten classes with a yummy treat! Students enjoyed warm bread with friends because they were the winners in our Texas Roadhouse fundraiser. Andy the Armadillo was rocking after lunch when he joined the Pre-K-2nd grade Back to School Dance!

LPA Art Students Connecting Art and Science

Students in Mr. McGarry’s Ceramics classes at Lincoln Park Academy are combining their Geometry skills with their creative abilities to construct ornamental ceramic boxes. They are seen here in the beginning stage of construction, measuring and attaching the separate clay panels. Later the projects will be decorated and kiln-fired to create the finished ceramics pieces. We are excited to see the outcome of the artists’ efforts.    

Titan Cross Country Runner Breaks More Records

Congratulations to Cross Country runner, Kaitlynn Moore on another record-breaking performance. Kaitlynn won the Centennial Cross Country Invitational by over a minute to place first overall on Friday, with a time of 19:44, setting a new school record. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

LPA Students Learn About Enzymes

Lincoln Park Academy students in Ms. Saxton-Hertz and Ms. Bernard – Mark’s IB MYP Biology classes completed the Pineapple Enzyme Lab using gelatin as the protein and pineapple as the enzyme. Students learned how to denature the bromelain from the pineapple by adjusting temperature and pH levels.  This lab directly ties in to  SC.912.L.18.4 and relates the structure and function of enzymes by allowing students to use hands-on activities to become proficient with the standard.        

Central’s Club Rush

Friends, Fun, & Cobra Community FPC held its annual fall Club Rush or student involvement fair on Friday, September 8th. During both lunches, Cobra Nation’s courtyard was flooded with students being welcomed and introduced to over 20 student organizations, clubs, and unique interest groups. Club Rush is where new Cobras become part of the Cobra family and returning Cobras sample new groups to join. Fort Pierce Central has something for everyone. Parkway First-Grade Garden

Ahoy Pirates! First-grade started a garden at Parkway Elementary! Our inspiring first-grade teachers kicked off the explorative science unit by conducting class outside. Students were engaged with hands-on investigations of plants, plant parts, living things, and even designing and constructing a garden. This year-long project will allow students to raise questions about the natural world, make observations, keep records of investigations, and generate appropriate explanations based on these explorations. Savanna Ridge Elementary’s Grandparents/Caring Adults Day

In celebration of Grandparents Day, SRE welcomed Grandparents and Caring Adults to muffins and activities in their little Cranes’ classroom. Each classroom provided guests with entertainment varying from songs, read-alouds, to performances and crafts. SRE was excited to host this event and looks forward to many more family events this year!

TCHS Jumps Into the Camera (OBSCURA)

Ms. Stark’s Photography 1 class at Treasure Coast High School is learning how the camera was invented.  Students learned about the humble beginnings of the camera by building their personal camera obscura (Latin for dark room)  and turning their classroom into a giant camera obscura.  Through this, they learned how light travels in a straight line causing the image to project inverted, and how the size of the aperture affects the projected image.  By learning about the camera obscura, the students have an understanding of what happens inside their cameras. LPA Key Club Meeting of the Year a Resounding Success

The Lincoln Park Academy Key Club held its first meeting as new and existing members were welcomed back for the 2023-2024 school year. After the introduction of sponsors and the Key Club mission statement, plans were discussed for the club and its future endeavors. The first beach clean-up is scheduled for November 4th.  Members can’t wait to share their hearts and skills with the rest of St. Lucie County!
