SLW Centennial Medical Academy Students Collect Toys for Local Children in Foster Care

Mrs. Durkee and Mrs. Higgins’ Allied Health classes and HOSA-Future Health Professional members partnered up with Communities Connected for Kids for their annual Making Christmas Bright project. CCK oversees child-welfare services in Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast, and Guardians for New Futures, which helps meet the unfunded needs of children in foster care. The project has served thousands of children in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. SLW Centennial Law Academy Students Present to Palm Pointe Civics Students

SLW Centennial Law Academy students presented a Mock Trial to over 120 Palm Pointe seventh grade Civics students. This was a collaborative effort between Mrs. Sandra Oliveira, Law Academy Coordinator, and Mrs. Lulkin and Mrs. Cruz, 7th grade Civics teachers, to enhance the learning experience for the seventh graders who are learning about the court system and the trial process. The Law Academy students prepared and presented the case. The seventh grade students were placed in jury groups to deliberate the outcome. SLW Centennial Law Academy Students Present Mock Trial to Palm Pointe Civics Class

SLW Centennial Law Academy students  presented a mock trial to over 120 seventh grade  students.  It was a collaborative effort between the Law  Academy teachers Sandra Oliveira and Eric Eberhardt, and the Palm Pointe 7th grade Civics teachers, Anne Lulkin and Hillary Cruz.  The 7th graders were divided into juries.  After the trial was presented by the high school students, each group had to deliberate the verdict.  The verdicts were shared and then the session was open to discussion and questions between students and teachers.

SLW Centennial High School is proud to celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of the Hispanic community. SLW Centennial Joins Community in Water Quality Judging

SLW Centennial recently took part in a fun and meaningful community event. Ms. Elisabet Flores, one of our dedicated staff members, served as a judge in the Port St. Lucie Utilities Department’s annual Best Tasting Water Contest. Each year, the department hosts this contest to evaluate the water quality from different utilities in the region. Judges score the samples based on clarity, odor, color, and taste. On Friday, September 19th, 2025, the SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC Black Talon Company participated in a Candle Lighting Ceremony hosted by the Vietnam Veterans Association of the Treasure Coast.   The Ceremony is done to honor those warriors who have lost their lives, or have gone “Missing In Action” (MIA), or have been captured as “Prisoners of War” (POW) during our country’s wars and battles. SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC Wins Do-You-Give-A-Ruck

Congratulations to the SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC Black Talon Company!  On Saturday, September 27th, 2025, the area High School JROTC teams from the Treasure Coast went head to head to win this year’s title of The Do-You-Give-A-Ruck Freedom Festival and Memorial Ruck March Cadet Competition. Each team was charged with completing a 3.43 Mile Ruck (or backpack March) at an average of 15.00 minute mile pace, carrying an average load of 25-35 lbs each. SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC Participates in Do-You-Give-A-Ruck “Battle of the Branches” Obstacle Course Event

  The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company participated in the Do-You-Give-A-Ruck “Battle of the Branches” Veteran’s Benefit Obstacle Course on Saturday, April 29th, 2023. The event benefits veterans by donating non-perishable food items as well as provide housing for homeless veterans in the area. There were four “Black Talon” teams that participated. SLW Centennial HS NAVY JROTC Has Annual Military Inspection (AMI)

On Thursday, January 31, 2019, the SLW Centennial HS NAVY JROTC had its Annual Military Inspection (AMI).  The Inspecting officer was Commander Patrick Thurman, USN (retired).  CDR Thurman is the Area 7 Manager of the NJROTC program and oversees the NJROTC program for the entire state of Florida and over 60 NJRTOC units.  CDR Thurman was truly impressed with the professionalism and military bearing that the Black Talon Cadets possessed.  The inspection verifies that all NJROTC requirements are being met to include academics, marching and drill, physical fitness and personnel inspection. The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company held its Annual End of the Year Awards Night Ceremony on Friday, May 5th, 2023 in the school’s auditorium. SLW Centennial HS NAVY JROTC Assists in Kindergarten Round-Up

The St. Lucie West Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC assisted parents and soon-to-be kindergartners by escorting them to SLW Centennial High School’s auditorium.  The event was held on Thursday, April 22nd from 11:00AM until 7:00PM.  SLW Centennial High School was one of three venues in the Saint Lucie School District where the Kindergarten Round-up events occurred. Future kindergartners received backpacks and other school supplies to assist in their transition to students in the upcoming school year.  Good luck to them all!

The SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC Black Talon Company provided a stunning backdrop during the Homecoming Event on Friday, September 26th, 2025. Students and parents gathered for an engaging and informative evening at the recent AICE and Dual Enrollment Information Night. The event offered families a valuable opportunity to explore the benefits of the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) program and dual enrollment options available through IRSC. School counselors, the AICE coordinator, and IRSC dual enrollment advisors were on hand to answer questions and provide insights into the academic supports available to students pursuing these rigorous programs. Saint Lucie West Centennial High School Culinary Arts Department teamed up with the Nutrition and Dietetics Department from Keiser University on Tuesday September 30th for the groundbreaking of a community garden. Both schools are excited about this new partnership, which will be beneficial for each institution.
