On February 14th, St. Lucie West Centennial Criminal Justice students attended Keiser University. Speakers included program directors, professors, a current student, and even the university president. Students learned about the criminal justice and legal studies programs offered at Keiser and the unique way that students take classes and earn their degrees at the Port St. Lucie campus. Centennial students competed against students from Treasure Coast High School, Westwood Academy, and Fort Pierce Central in an activity that demonstrated the attention to detail required in careers in this field. St. Lucie West Centennial High School’s track team delivered an outstanding performance at the St. Lucie County Track Championship. The boys’ team emerged as SLC Champions, while the girls’ team secured the runner-up position. The track team showcased the depth of talent and dedication among the athletes. The boys’ team had several first-place winners: Giovani Jean-Pierre dominated the sprints, winning the 100m and 400m events. Last week, three Centennial Criminal Justice students attended the Florida Public Safety Association State Conference in Orlando and competed in the Criminal Justice competition. Students competing included Brittany Burke, Ryan Chambers, and Shanise Schwietert. Our team took 3rd place and we are so proud of them!
St. Lucie West Centennial Transition Students go to Burlington in Tradition to learn job skills through performing tasks. They are learning various job skills necessary to be employed when they leave school. We are proud of our Eagles!
St. Lucie West Centennial High School students recently donated $2,500 to New Horizons of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee to support mental health and addiction recovery programs for children and adolescents. The funds were raised during CENTennial Cares Week, a campaign promoting compassion and kindness in tribute of the students and staff that lost their lives last year at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School. Four students from St. Lucie West Centennial High School were invited to join students from Broward County Public Schools to participate in an instructional camp at MarineLab in Key Largo, FL in November. The students, who are identified as deaf or hard of hearing, had the opportunity to engage in marine science activities and perform experiments with the help of educational interpreters. Albert Morgan is a rising junior in the Allied Health program at SLWCHS. He is an excellent student, always attending school, on time for class, and always well-prepared. He is an active member of HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Albert is a member of the Boys & Girls Club, belonging to the Chuck Hill Unit. St. Lucie West Centennial High School sophomore, Janelle Palmer, was selected by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Treasure Coast as the Outstanding Youth Philanthropist of the Year and was recently honored at the National Philanthropy Day event on November 18th. Janelle was selected because she consistently gives her time and talent to support the mission of Treasure Coast Hospice. She has encouraged her friends to do the same by sharing her personal story and engaging them in her efforts, resulting in volunteerism and awareness of their mission. Congratulations Janelle!
For the first time in a number of years, we have our first Centennial Choir All-State member. Ariana Finley tested and auditioned at our regional site. She scored high enough that she will be in the Mixed Chorus representing our school this January in Tampa, performing with the top vocalists of our state. We are so very proud of her, and she has helped us set the bar for next year. #cen10challengeaccepted
On Saturday, February 17th, Centennial student Haley Nathan sang the national anthem at the PSL National Little League baseball opening day. Haley is a junior and is in our Chorus program at Centennial. Great job Haley!
For the first time in school history, Centennial has won the championship cross-country race that’s been going on since 1989! Big night for the program! We are proud of our Eagles!

Over 200 of our amazing seniors took a huge step toward their futures by: Creating their FAFSA IDs Working on college applications Getting support from dedicated counselors and staff Taking control of their college dreams! In support of National Hunger Action Day, the cafeteria crew at Centennial all wore orange which is the color for hunger awareness.
Mrs. Sheila Cash from Garber Buick GMC presented St. Lucie West Centennial High School’s Principal Andrea Popwell with a check for over $6,000.00 during this month’s School Board Meeting. The money raised came from Garber’s Drive for Education campaign to support our community’s students. Community partners in education are vital to the overall success of the District. On Wednesday, March 27, The Centennial High School Chorus performed in the Superintendent’s Concert for Music In Our Schools (MIOS) at Fenn Center in Fort Pierce. SLWCHS had 8 Chorus members participate this year: Jessica Dorvil, Jimmy Haga, Amari Taylor, Colin Bappoo, Josiah Castillo, Haley Nathan, Akeliah Chisholm, and Aryanna Alberts. Students attended rehearsal the day before, with an all-day rehearsal the day of with other students selected from their choirs at all of our St. Lucie High Schools. Groups to perform were Elementary Music, Middle School Band and Choir, and High School Band and Choir.
SLWCH Parli Pro Team (11th grade) placed 2nd at the HOSA District IX Winter Leadership Conference (WLC). The purpose of the parliamentary procedure was to develop leadership skills in HOSA members by conducting a simulated business meeting. This event was based on team competition; therefore, members learned the importance of cooperation and working together through competitive performance. This event involved two rounds of competition. Round One consisted of a written test to evaluate the team’s understanding of parliamentary procedure.
