Northport Welcomes Host of Community Readers to Celebrate Dr. Seuss

What a wonderful morning at a school that is on the move, flourishing and continually growing! Northport VPK-8 School in collaboration with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, welcomed a host of community leaders to read Dr. Seuss books and to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss with VPK-3 grade students. Local leaders who visited the school recently for breakfast, participated in the Pledge of Allegiance and Kids at Hope Pledge lead by Northport VPK students and read and discussed Dr. Seuss with the students need to be heartily thanked for spending quality time with the children of Saint Lucie County.

Special thanks to Linda Bartz, Vice Mayor of Port Saint Lucie, Tod Mowery, County Commissioner, Frannie Hutchinson, County Commissioner, Jay Liss, City of PSL Parks and Recreation along with BBBS and Americorps membership including, Azzam Abdor-Rahman, Barbara Heller, Thelma Calvi, Joni Wyzkowski, Marian Alvarado, Donna Snead, Elizabeth Williams, Marsha Capellan, Kelly Chicvara, Stephanie Clenney, representatives from Clerk of the Court, Kelly Haddox, Joanne Baker, Robin Burk, Tonya Shelton, Jessica Evans, Cindy Nunn, Tameka Walker and ten members of the Indian River State College Women’s Basketball team.

Northport VPK-8 School is a community oriented school that continually harvests the knowledge, experience and expertise of community and business leaders to help students become achievers and believers. The school realizes that 21st century students need a well rounded education and that the administration, teachers and staff are not a lone entity. The roots of education run deep into the community. Special kudos to Northport eighth grade student ambassadors who are specifically trained to move guests from place to place on the VPK-8 campus with a genuine and heartfelt greeting.
