Fairlawn Elementary GLOWS with Literacy Week

The excitement of Literacy Week continued at Fairlawn Elementary with a school-wide activity that truly helped foster a love of reading just GLOW. Students across all grade levels took part in a DEAR event—Drop Everything And Read—with a fun and creative twist. Each student received a finger flashlight, allowing them to shine a light on their books as they read in their classrooms.

The glowing finger lights added an extra layer of excitement and engagement, turning reading time into a memorable experience for everyone. Classrooms across Fairlawn Elementary were filled with quiet focus, glowing lights, and smiling faces as students dropped everything and immersed themselves in their favorite stories. Even better, students were able to keep their finger flashlights, encouraging them to continue reading at home. This special DEAR activity highlighted Fairlawn Elementary’s commitment to making literacy fun, engaging, and something that truly shines both in and out of the classroom.
