Congratulations to the Class of 2023! Last week, Superintendent Dr. Jon R. Prince, joined by Board Chairman Troy Ingersoll, Board Vice Chairman Debbie Hawley, Board Member Jack Kelly, Board Member Jennifer Richardson, Board Member Dr. Donna Mills, and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Helen Wild celebrated the graduating classes of 2023 at Lawnwood Stadium this year with over 3,000 students walking across the stage to receive their diplomas. SLW Centennial HS NAVY JROTC Awards Night and Change of Command

The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company held its Annual End of the Year Awards Night Ceremony on Friday, May 5th, 2023 in the school’s auditorium. Prior to the cadets receiving their awards two parents were presented with Appreciation Award Plaques for their support of the Black Talon Unit throughout the school year.  They were Mrs. Suzie Scott and Mr. Lance Rossell.   The Awards Night is when the unit recognizes the stellar performances of outstanding Cadets. Project Citizen Awardees

The 7th grade students at Manatee Academy are advancing on to the Project Citizen State competition after earning 1st place for their project, “Center of Attention”.  The students conducted thorough research and interviewed both professionals and city officials alike to establish an action plan that would encourage the production of more venues and family-oriented events at the Civic Center and throughout St. Lucie County. Recently, the students presented the plan before City Council with high hopes of their support. Best wishes to Mr. Young and his students as they move on to states!

Autism Awareness

For the month of April, the 7th grade students at Manatee Academy K-8 used their PBIS day to recognize student diversity!  As a way to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month, the students enjoyed music and laughter together, wore blue in solidarity, and painted murals which pieced together to form a beautiful jigsaw puzzle. #AutismAwareness

St. Lucie Public Schools’ Angela Patton Named as Florida’s 2023 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year

SLW Centennial NAVY JRTOC Wins 1st Place!

The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Unit competed in the Lake Howell High School’s NJROTC “Silverhawk” Showdown Drill Meet against 15 other NJRTOC units.  The field meet competition is composed of Academic, Drill, Physical Fitness, and Personnel Inspection.  The SLW Centennial “Black Talon” won 1st Place in the Personnel Inspection portion of the Field Meet Competition! IRSC Announces Free Tuition for St. Lucie County Students

On Thursday, March 3rd, Fort Pierce Central High School, along with Superintendent E. Wayne Gent, hosted IRSC, to announce the IRSC Promise Program. Now every 2022 graduate of a public or public charter high school in Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties can earn an IRSC Associate Degree at no tuition cost! SLPS Career and Technical Education and Economic Development Council Host Counselor’s Virtual Healthcare Session

St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) partnered with the Economic Development Council (EDC) as an initiative to continue our goals of communicating employment, post-secondary, and scholarship opportunities for our graduating students in St. Lucie Public Schools.  This virtual session featured Mr. Wayne Gent (SLPS Superintendent), Mr. Pete Tesch (EDC President), CareerSource Research Coast, Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital (Martin Health), Indian River State College, Keiser University, Lawnwood Medical Center & Heart Institute (HCA), and St. Lucie Medical Center (HCA).  The participants included SLPS counselors, graduation coaches, and medical educators.
