Forest Grove Middle School had over 400 students participate in our Nacho Average Student celebration. What does this mean for our school and our students? It means that these students were either proficient (Level 3,4,5s) and/or made significant gains from the PM1 to the PM2/Mid-Year assessments. As a school community, we look to our families to continue to encourage our students to strive for excellence. We offer before and after-school tutoring for Civics, ELA, Math, and Science. FGMS 1st Annual Purple vs Gold Basketball PBIS Event was one for the records! Fort Pierce Central High School Varsity Basketball and Cheer Teams did an amazing job representing the Cobra Nation. Forest Grove Appreciates Our Community Partnerships

Forest Grove Middle School is very grateful for our community partnerships with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and First Priority! These organizations meet weekly and provide mentorship and leadership opportunities on our campus. The students who voluntarily attend these group sessions (during lunch with an assigned teacher) receive resources to positively interact with their fellow students and effectively navigate the challenges of middle school and beyond. Forest Grove Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society students took time out of their Winter Break to visit a local Nursing Home. Forest Grove Middle School hosted their 8th-Grade Pinning Ceremony, celebrating the upcoming end of their middle school journey and welcoming the bright futures our 8th-graders will experience as high school students. We would also like to give a special thank you to our guest speaker, Westwood Academy’s Assistant Principal Ms. Smith. Ms. Smith shared an inspirational message to our 8th-grade students as they prepare for their transition to becoming high school students. SY25 has already brought us an exciting girls’ volleyball season and our intramural soccer team advanced to the second round wrapping up a competitive run at a championship. Hard work, perseverance, focus, and effort are consistently recognized at Forest Grove Middle School! Our students got a taste of this firsthand. Ms. Collins and Ms. Jason recognized their 8th grade ELA students’ performance on their PM2 ELA assessment by providing them with a special lunch of their request. FGMS: Grade 8 Advanced Science Class Creates Model of Sun

Mr. Tygesson’s 8th-grade Advanced Science students demonstrate their knowledge of the composition of a star by utilizing their artistic ability to create a model of the Sun. In this activity, students worked collaboratively in groups to create a model of the Sun’s interior layers (core, radiative zone, and convection zone), atmosphere (photosphere, chromosphere, and corona), and solar activity (prominences, solar flares, and sunspots) and implemented the properties of all layers into their model. Standard: SC.8.E.5.6 Create models of solar properties including: rotation, structure of the Sun, convection, sunspots, solar flares, and prominences.

Ms. Jordan and Mr. Tygesson co-taught a density lab to Ms. Jordan’s 8th-grade science class. Students learned that density is the relationship between mass, volume, density, and flotation. It explains why some objects float while other objects sink. The density of any material can be determined by dividing the material’s mass by its volume. Forest Grove’s annual NJHS Fall Festival was filled with fun, food, families, friends, and festivities!! So many people came out to support our Fall Festival… we have the best community members!!! FGMS: MOA Luau Was a Great Success

Forest Grove Middle School’s Marine Oceanographic Academy hosted a MOA Luau at Causeway Cove Marina. When parents, community members, and educators work together it equals student success!! MOA’s annual fish fry is a great example of that success!! Thank you to everyone who came out to support our MOA program! Seeing our students enjoying the sea life they learn about every day gives us reassurance that our marine life is loved and in great hands.      

FGMS: Mrs. Quiambao’s Civics Class Reviews in a Variety of Ways

Mrs. Quiambao’s students reviewed for their unit exam through a variety of table sorts which asked the students to do a variety of skills such as identifying the historical document, a preamble scramble, the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, the main ideas of the content by completing an info-graph, and vocabulary matching words, terms and images.  

FGMS: Ms. Adderley’s Classes Learn On-The-Go

Ms. Adderley’s 8th Grade Critical Thinking Class participated in a Gallery Walk to identify and justify Ethos Pathos and Logos. Our critical thinking classes support Reading/ELA standards and provide students with multiple opportunities to develop and strengthen academic vocabulary.
