SLW Centennial Law Academy Students Present to Palm Pointe Civics Students

SLW Centennial Law Academy students presented a Mock Trial to over 120 Palm Pointe seventh grade Civics students. This was a collaborative effort between Mrs. Sandra Oliveira, Law Academy Coordinator, and Mrs. Lulkin and Mrs. Cruz, 7th grade Civics teachers, to enhance the learning experience for the seventh graders who are learning about the court system and the trial process. SLW Centennial Student Selected For Academic Challenge District Team

Jaeger Johnson (pictured in front row, 3rd from the left) will be part of the District Team that will compete at the Commissioner’s Academic Challenge State Level competition in April. Jaeger’s individual scores at the District Academic Challenge competition earned him a seat on the District’s Team.  Congratulations Jaeger!      

SLW Centennial Student Athletes Recognized for Academic Achievements

Olive Garden sponsored an event honoring student athletes at SLW Centennial High School.  Student athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and higher were recognized for their academic achievements.  The top two students who both have a 4.0 cumulative GPA include Cameron Pagan (pictured on left), 10th grade, Volleyball Team and Nalin Saraf (pictured on right), 10th grade, Cross Country Team .

SLW Centennial’s Eagles Nest Preschool is Awarded $1000 Grant Through Wells Fargo

The Eagles Nest Preschool is the recipient of $1000 grant awarded by Wells Fargo Bank. Wells Fargo’s Community Connection Grant Program is an annual program where each of the company’s retail banking stores and Business Banking teams explore the needs of their local communities and select a nonprofit organization or school to receive a $1,000 grant.  This year, Wells Fargo will award more than $600,000 in grants to 600-plus nonprofit organizations and schools throughout Florida. SLW Centennial Law Academy Students Present Mock Trial to Palm Pointe Civics Class

SLW Centennial Law Academy students  presented a mock trial to over 120 seventh grade  students.  It was a collaborative effort between the Law  Academy teachers Sandra Oliveira and Eric Eberhardt, and the Palm Pointe 7th grade Civics teachers, Anne Lulkin and Hillary Cruz.  The 7th graders were divided into juries.  After the trial was presented by the high school students, each group had to deliberate the verdict.  The verdicts were shared and then the session was open to discussion and questions between students and teachers.  

SLW Centennial Medical Academy Students Participate in Mock Disaster Drill

Ms. Higgin’s and Mrs. Durkee’s Saint Lucie West Centennial Medical Academy students participated in a mock disaster drill at Tradition Medical Center and Martin Emergency at St. Lucie West. They were requested to participate as victims —  all 24 went to Tradition Medical Center first to be “moulaged” by specialized makeup volunteers. Twelve of the students stayed at Tradition Medical Center in the Emergency Room, the other 12 were transported to Martin Emergency at St. Lucie West. Every student was given a script to memorize. SLW Centennial Medical Academy Students Learn Hands-Only CPR

More than 120 Health Science 1, 10th and 11th grade students at St. Lucie West Centennial High School learned Hands-Only CPR this week. These students were taught by Mary Higgins’ First Responder students. First Responder classes are available to students who have completed the Allied Health Program as a senior elective. First Responder students prepare for careers in emergency medicine by becoming CPR certified as Health Care Professionals, completing web based classroom instruction and skills in advanced first aid techniques, followed by a shadowing opportunity at various St. Lucie County Fire stations.
