Art Contest  (Grades K-3) Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott’s Hispanic Heritage Month Art Contest is open to all K-3 students in the state of Florida. Two winners will be selected. New Security Protocols

The safety of students and staff on campuses as well as at school-sponsored events such as high school football games remain a priority for St. Lucie Public Schools. The District’s school security team and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office have announced measures to enhance security protocols at all local football events for the coming season. Morningside Recognized for Energy Project

National Energy Education Development (NEED) selected Morningside Elementary as THE Florida Elementary School of the Year and National Elementary School Runner-Up. The award was based on Mrs. Mukhamedov’s 5th grade class portfolio on energy studies. The fifth-grade group was highly engaged as their studies and experiments on the science of energy led them through class activities, energy expos, and community festivals.  It was an amazing opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge about energy and share information with others to support a more energy conscious community. The health and wellness of our students is vitally important, and SLPS is proud of its continued partnership with the American Heart Association. This partnership is crucial, as today, nearly one in three American kids and teens are overweight or obese and many children to not get enough physical activity. Mrs. Sheila Cash from Garber Buick GMC presented St. Lucie West Centennial High School’s Principal Andrea Popwell with a check for over $6,000.00 during this month’s School Board Meeting.  The money raised came from Garber’s  Drive for Education campaign to support our community’s students. Scheible Recognized at School Board Meeting

Leah Scheible, a rising junior at Fort Pierce Central High School, was recognized at the August SLPS Board Meeting because she made a big splash at this year’s Special Olympics 2018 USA Games held in Seattle, Washington.   As one of Florida’s 7-member swim team delegation, Leah took twin silvers in her individual 200 freestyle event and 4X50 freestyle relay, and she scooped a fourth-place finish in her individual 100 freestyle event.   Leah’s swim coach, Heather Gray, who accompanied Leah to the Board meeting, describes her as an outstanding athlete.   Leah participates in swim, track, basketball and cheerleading … Read More

Student Assignment Returns to Office on University Blvd.

As of Tuesday, August 14, the Student Assignment Office returns to its home base at 501 NW University Blvd. Suite #111 Port St. Lucie, FL 34986 The Student Assignment Office shifted its location to the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex on Kirby Loop Road in Ft. Pierce from August 1 – August 13.  The purpose of the shift was to provide better customer service for parents and guardian registering their children for school. Excitement was in the air as students returned to school on Monday!   Every SLPS campus is supported by a School Resource Deputy. The support of all law enforcement agencies is appreciated!   316 buses were ready to roll and transport 23,000 students safely to and from school.
